Agree that Aish wasn’t great, though I’d not drop him yet. He’s had 23 with 8 marks and 3 tackles (get that to five tackles and the stats look more rounded).

But his hurt factor was not apparent to me. This is probably confirmed with his low SC score of 56 which is atrocious, considering 10 marks generally equate to 30 points, 3 tackles equate to 12 points. This means that his 23 possessions garnered roughly 14 points!

Not intending to bash Aish, but the most prominent thing I recall of his game is per below;

There was a period in the Fourth I think where Aish had a long kick out of D50 on the Southern Stand wing that went OOF. Richmond were able to re-enter 50, mark, luckily that shot missed.

Then I’m sure it was the resulting kick in that went down the Members wing that Aish again put OOF. I think we were able to repel their F50 entry this time without score. Shortly after, there was another clanged directly to opposition (with no apparent Pie targeted).

He needs to improve, and I think he will.

You'd have to think no change.
Adams would be handy if he's ready otherwise give him another week.

Will be great to have Adams, Sier and WHE back in the selection mix in due course.

Assuming Cox gets a week off which would be absolutely ludicrous,
Would they bring in a defender and perhaps send Moore to play forward and spend time in the Ruck?

They would be mad to move Moore from CHB. That is his position and where they have intended to play him all pre season.

If Cox misses rework forward line if needed. Don’t f**k with our defensive structures after 2 games.

Ok so who will be the 2nd ruck?

Ok so we rework our forward structure to play a debutante against last years grand final winners.
Jeremy McGovern would have a field day?

I'm talking about if Cox is out. Lynch in is the only way of not reworking our forward structure, unless we want to move Moore or Roughhead forward and rework our defensive structure - I reckon the likelihood of Howe to Darling makes moving Roughhead forward a distinct possibility.

I rewatched the game this morning. Aish literally had 5 direct turnovers by foot in the second half. Our worst by an absolute mile.

I watched it with a focus on Aish and can’t understand why many folks are down on him. Yeah, some things he tried didn’t work out, but that’s got to be offset by the good things he did do.

We just beat one of the best teams over the last three years by around 4 goals + another 3 junktime goals. I reckon we’re being a tad harsh by marking down Aish’s role in that.

He's often the recipient of the last of a sequence of handballs and his kicks are rushed.
His OOTF came about because of the pressure on his kick from the Richmond bloke, (who deserves credit for it).

That is a problem but not solved by moving Moore. I would either:

1. promote Goldy and use Roughy as the second ruck. Goldy goes back when Roughy in ruck.
2. promote Lynch

Neither I like but moving Moore I like even less.

Well all i was looking at was a like for like replacement if Mason cops a week.
And to me the only thing i see is moving Moore forward and indeed not an ideal option but i see nothing else.
With the addition of Goldsack in defense.

Option 1 is the obvious choice. Goldsack is a good match up on Darling. Moore to Kennedy. Roughead to Cox's role. Roughead can take a contested mark and while he is a poor ruck it at least allows us to maintain our structure and give Grundy a rest. It's not ideal to mixup the defensive mix but Roughead has only been their for 2 regular season games so it cant be all that bad.

Hopefully common sense prevails and Cox gets off.

I hope they do and after watching the 1st half of the ess v stk,
There should best at least 10 players getting a week!
The way Essendon is playing 22 players should get a week.

Just because someone was on a winning team does not mean they contributed in an overall positive manner to the team, lots of players contribute at a net loss considering their opponents have impacts too. I bet Varcoes opponent did more than 5 touches 3 tackles in a game.
I guess in the same way, just because somebody had 5 (or 7?!) touches doesn’t mean they didn’t have a serviceable game. I love the way he goes about it, plays the big games well. We need him fit and firing for finals.

All I want is for Mayne to play an accountable role on McGovern. Even if it means we have to change our setup.

All we need is McGovern not to have as many intercept marks/possessions.

He had 10 vs Giants.
He had 9 vs Lions.

Greenwood to Sheed.

Sidebottom straight out of the goal square because Masten will be tagging him.

At centre bounces, have WCE been rolling one of their wingman back into defence. It was pretty clear against Richmond that Sidey took the wing that the bloke was rolling back from. At centre bounces, he then moved in and became an outlet in space when we won the centre clearance. I liked it a lot.

I don’t think Sidebottom’s opponent will be letting him roam free like the Tigers did.

Maybe the opposite wing. Phillips or Mayne.
