Disposal efficiency is a pretty crap stat. Any kick over 40m to a contest is considered “efficient” regardless of result after the contest.

I have a radical suggestion but hear me out.

Play Gawn as a Full-Forward for a large part of the match and play Pedo in the ruck.

Reasoning: Gawn is a bit sore and the Eagles don't have Naitanui. Pedo's best Melbourne games have been when he played in the ruck like last year when Gawn and Spencer went out. We coped okay without ruck dominance last year when Gawn was missing from our team.

Let's face it, we are inevitability going to bomb it into the forward 50 anyway with McGovern primed to intercept, but if given a full jump Gawn is hard to outmark even if outnumbered.

With Hogan out we need another forward and I don't feel we can trust Weid to be the match winner in a must win game, nor rely on TMac to do it alone.

Kent should come in and either Garlett or Spargo should go out. One needs to stay though. I originally thought Spargo because he looked too cooked to get any penetration in his kicking, but Garlett had so many piss poor shirks of the hard ball at critical points, missed tackles and missed snaps. He didn't lay a single tackle. He is more dangerous but I thought his efforts were pretty bad and for team standards should be dropped.

But the gap between our best and worst (in games) is alarming. We have an avalanche of favourable I50 differentials but don’t capitalise, conversly when our oppo, particularly the good sides, inevitably gets their opportunity they hammer us on 6-7 goal runs that we are powerless to stop.

You can’t kick 2.12 against a swans team fighting for survival.

I've always wondered how they measure kicking efficiency, i'm assuming disposal efficiency is the same, no matter how good or bad we are using the ball it always seems to be around 72-76%

I think the kick retention is a far better stat to how good a kick a player is

I try to get excited thinking about him having a breakout game. Right when we need it, a kid steps up, bags 3 or 4...

He might surprise with a bit more space to work in without Hogan there, but if nothing else, I'd take a "vs Adelaide" type pressure game from him ... was an animal that night.

"Pressure" is something we slap someone with no offensive skills on the back about. Id much rather he couldnt lay a tackle to save himself and kick 5.

Hope is fading fast for me, I'm all for giving him the opportunity to do something in these final two rounds though. My boy Pedo is clearly done IMO, Weid has to show something now he has the opportunity, no excuses, i just want to see a flash, a quarter, of him looking like a KPF at AFL level.
