He's gone from banished to one of the first picked. I see no difference in his game from last year to this year. Are we really that all in on Sholl?

All I see with Sholl is another Rory Atkins with slightly more silkier skills…He's gone from banished to one of the first picked. I see no difference in his game from last year to this year.
His selections resemble match day adaptabilityOld Nicksy doesn't like making a lot of changes does he. Unchanged (barring injuries) all year it seems. Good form in the SANFL is purely an inconvenience for Nicks as he then has to make excuses of why they aren't getting picked.

We do have a bye the following week as well. Not really a week to manage blokes and have them not play for multiple weeks

Our priority, as always, is allowing the status quo the best opportunity to fend off change.
Perhaps there was a reason he was taken at pick 64
His games this year have been a massive improvement on last year. He played the first 10 games and was dropped, for good reason.
He's becoming a whipping boy and I don't think he deserves it
Unless the coaches put the loss squarely on themselves and not the players?????Lost opportunity imo to try some new players against the injury ravaged Weagles.
Selectors shouldn't allow the players to get comfortable after giving up 9 goals in a row.
I guess on the positive, we didn't make an example of the kids with less than 50 games for last weeks loss. Sadly there was no way Sloane was going out in Texs 250 but we really need to reassess where he is at after the bye because last week was horrible
They're both contact-averse. When caught with the ball, they get mauled/ragdolled.All I see with Sholl is another Rory Atkins with slightly more silkier skills…
I agree with the bold aboveI don't understand those who criticize Sholl for "not being tough enough". That's not his role. His role to receive on the outside, break lines and use his elite foot skills. As long as he continues to execute that, he plays.
Does this become a danger game for us..So Darling is playing. As is Luke Shuey. From afl.com.au
IN A WEEK that has seen West Coast's availability drop to a new low, coach Adam Simpson will at least be able to assemble his best midfield group for the first time in almost two years.
The return of captain Luke Shuey for Saturday's clash against Adelaide will see the Norm Smith medallist play alongside all of Elliot Yeo, Tim Kelly and Dom Sheed for the first time since round 22, 2021.
We like to leave the door open.Does this become a danger game for us..
Does Nicksy front the media before the first bounce and say he feels bad for Simpson as a fellow coach..
Like he did last year in our game against GWS, who were down at the time, and had a coach under pressure..
Only to have the GWS lads hand the crows a whipping..
Is it one of those “we surely cant lose this one.. this should be a cakewalk” games that we go into all cocky on only to get pantsed or just scrape over the line..
we’ve got a very rich history of dropping games like this.. games we supposedly never ever had a chance of losing.
It does worry me to some extent...if you look at those names coming in, and what they're capable of, at their best...then we need to be on guard, esp as the midfield is our weakest point.Does this become a danger game for us..

I agree with the bold above
BUT, with respect,
how about tackling (especially) and other 1%ers (shepherd/block/smother etc).
Sholl is not "tough enough", in fact at all.
This is exactly right. Did last week's run against us indicate mental relaxation after we overran them at the start?Does this become a danger game for us..

You make a fair point about Petracca typesIf we're expecting Sholl to do those things to any great extent, that's a failure of the players around him. It would be like expecting Butts to play as a key forward and kick goals. It's not what he does.
Nobody has a side full of Petracca types that can do everything.
I think his intent on those things is a lot better this year, but he doesn't really have the size or strength to be any good at it.If we're expecting Sholl to do those things to any great extent, that's a failure of the players around him. Shuey usually lasts a quarter from the last few times I've seen him play.So Darling is playing. As is Luke Shuey. From afl.com.au

Jordy was actually quite successful playing forward for the Murray Bushrangers, would have been classed as KPP swingman when we drafted him.You make a fair point about Petracca types, but the comparison to Butts is a bit thin.
I don't expect Butts to go forward and kick goals, but I do expect Butts and Sholl to tackle, at every opportunity. Applies to all players.
