What do we do if worse case scenario there is not macca or fitzy?
Sure, but he is the absolute last option. There is a massive gulf between showing a bit in the pre-season practice games and cutting the mustard in the season proper , and King is on the wrong side of it - physically, and I assume aerobically, mentally, skills-wise and any other way too. Promising but needs to size up and learn the game in the VFL.

FWIW I completely agree and he really didnt show THAT much at all, I think we didnt ( who would?) plan for this much damage to our KPP stocks and really what do we have left in the 2's? Gawn and King are the only tall blokes left in the 2's

Feel like we should minimize the damage with this game, play defensive and try not get blown out. I would hate to see the boys drop their heads with a belting this early. Let's be serious, we cannot win this game. Better to go hard for the games we have a chance in. We have injuries coming out the wazzoo vs WCE who are fit and firing.

I agree we won't win but there is no game we "cannot win".

It's absolutely extremely highly unlikely that we win but no game is a game we "cannot win".

Yeh highly unlikely that we'll get up this week - the Eagles looked very good (although I also thought the Bulldogs were average).

I think people getting frustrated by us chipping it around and 'messing about with it', arent quite grasping the concept that if we can keep our games low scoring, we will rarely be more than a few goals away at 3 quarter time - which leaves us with a better chance of pinching a few than if we are 13 goals down at 3 quarter time!

We will probably continue to move the ball backwards and sideways even more often - until we can get 1 or 2 of our tall forwards on the park.

And frankly, I'm fine with that - because we have an actual strategy and a game plan!!

I wouldnt put money on us but that attitude is the one the playes have had the last few years and its why we have been pathetic, I completely agree with what Roos said to the boys in that these guys are better than they think they are, they just need to learn that themselves and like gets proved year after year anyone can beat everyone

Thank your lucky stars Gawn is likely to return this week, the thought of Spencer taking on Cox and Nic Nac alone all game would be a disaster, it's still likely to be a disaster just less of one.

Think we can win this, Never seen a team look scary with Jamie Bennell in the line up.

Would rather we try to win and lose by a lot than just try not to lose by a lot from the outset.

I think its more about keeping us in the contest for longer mate - we need to take some steps to improve, and continuing to go down by 100 each week is not going to help.

Thats why Roos has been so adamant that he'll be using our percentage as the yardstick this year - not number of wins.

If we actually show signs of improvement by keeping the ball in our possession, scores low, and smaller losses - we should start pinching a few more wins.. and after we start pinching a few more wins - we can start to think about our win/loss ratio as the yardstick.

We have to accept just how shit we were last year, and have been for so long - and realise that we aint going to instantly turn into a winning side.

Despite the slow movement we still managed to get 47 I50's , I'd like to think that the real test is against the eagles now

Also I'm taking names of anybody who keeps Rohan Bail in their teams.

Will hunt every one of you down.

Come at me bro. I thought Bail was alright. Not very good, but alright. Certainly better than previously.

If McDonald can't get up with his leg related injury I'd throw Pedo down back TBH. You'd almost have to. Otherwise I can't see him in. The only way he gets a game up forward is if Fitz can't get up. Fitz/Gawn forward tall combo isn't ideal but it'll do to be going on with, West Coast's defense isn't exactly tall (Glass aside but not sure who else, will have to double check) but they might counter by throwing someone like Sinclair down back.

JKH will be something but he needs tall forwards to crumb to. Byrnes has unacceptable leg speed for a small forward. I reckon both out, Blease in and Viney in.

The problem with dropping Pedo is that the same thing that happened to him will happen to the tall we bring in - being double teamed.

Purely as a third tall, Pedo has a role to play until we get our regular forward stocks back. If he can take a defender and chip in here or there without being a go to man then I can live with that in the interim.

His specific problem is his conditioning. He needs a bit more power at the contest and general fitness. He is prepared to work but his impact is limited. I'd still keep him as a third tall though just for now even if it is to prevent someone else getting double teamed.
100% agree. People forget he's playing a thankless task at the moment. Just as he did against the tigers. He is being sent to slaughter because of the complete lack of options. Play Watts forward and rely on one of the multitude of midfielders we have to deliver the ball to the forwards. If we have Watts, Howe and Pedo in the forward line at least it makes the defenders actually defend. Throw Byrnes or Bail in there with hopefully one of Fitz or Gawn and all of a sudden there is at least a couple of targets. Watts is good on a lead and will actually score with a set shot too, unlike the rest of our team..

The thought of being toweled up by a team with Jamie Bennell in it makes me cry too.

Best way to stop Jack Darling was to draft him in the first place lol

Don't worry we would of Melbourne-ised him. Made him a soft un-skillfull outside runner with no confidence at all, trade him back to WCE for pick 120 in 3 years time :p

Both aren't super strong though, for example - they'd be smashed by your forward line :p
