Are we sure Georgiou (needs a good nickname I hate typing that name) even comes out of the side? Especially against GWS and there monster talls

I think he would be stiff to miss out

Well... Georgiou is basically a poor mans Garland, so we replace like for like.

Byrnes needs to come out eventually.

I honestly dont see it, I look at him but I just dont see it
Maybe. But for team balance he may struggle.

Team Balance yeah your probably right but does Garland go Straight back into the defence or as syl mentioned do we bring Garland in forward

Pedersen, Gawn, Fitzy, Jamar still isnt a good forward line

Georgiou is an honest defender. Garland can play forward. I would actually love him to come in as a forward, it gives opponents something to think about instead of just howe.

Am I missing something? Garlo's our CHB and arguably our best defender. I know he was drafted as a forward, and he's had that one game against Essendon, but what else?

Watching the TV games this weekend a couple of things really stood out. Bringing players back that are not match fit is dicing with danger . The other obvious thing to strike me is the cap on rotations , am not convinced this is in the best interests of the players . Sure it opens up the game in the last quarter but that won't help if your players are already stuffed . A long winded way of saying i would prefer players like Garland and Jamar to have a run in the 2's before throwing them back into the seniors .

It annoys a bit that Roos says we're more about "education" than just wins, but he plays Byrnes instead of Kent or Evans. Both of those guys stand to learn more from playing tomorrow than they do sitting on the couch at home.

Could have stopped it there. A mistake that our coaches have continually fallen into after a loss or two. Frustrating, especially from Roosy. Get the boys wanting to win games.

At the risk of dredging up all ground, maybe Roos views Kent and Evans for what they are...

Evans I'll give you, been on the list for a few years now and you can count his good games on one hand. Kent though? Second year player, generates excitement, can kick multiple goals etc.

I just don't see it with Kent. Maybe in time, but right now he hasn't earned a game ahead of Byrnes.

I get the frustration but I think Roos is educating the boys on winning games, not just educating seperately
He thinks that Byrnes is likely to have more of an impact on us winning than Kent and Evans

Do i agree? No but maybe with the forward line as depleted as it is he wants the experience of Byrnes rather than throwing some young fellas to the wolves

I don't see it with Byrnes either but he has 100 more games than Kent, most of them with one of the best football sides in history. If Byrnes isn't good now he never will be, Kent and Evans still have a chance.

It's so shit that we have no VFL game this week.

I love pickles and Kent. Hope they make it!!!!

I'm sure roosy is talking to the fans here, behind the scenes he'll be getting the boys striving for the wins.

As for Kent and our other young players, they need to earn their spot in the side, they can't be handed games, they need to learn how hard it is to make it as an AFL footballer, kent wouldn't get a game at any other club in the league right now. Shizenhouse how we have no VFL game for the first 2 weeks, need to bring the reserves back, this is a joke that at the top level the reserve players can't play a game

As others have said Byrnes is no superstar, but we want to win games and we want the kids to earn their games. Byrnes in 2008-2010 inclusive was one of the mid-level players that made Geelong one of the greatest teams of all time. He is a premiership player that has (had) what it takes to play, perform and win on the big stage!

If he keeps kicking 2 goals a game I'm happy for him to be in the side. As soon as that stops though, he doesn't do enough of anything else to warrant a spot I reckon.

I reckon Kent is a good chance of becoming a reasonable small forward option for us - I like him.

But I'll hazard a guess that Roos will be telling him he needs to improve his tank so that he can rotate through the middle - and also to improve his 2 way running and defensive pressure.

Once the VFL stuff starts for us, it will give some of the fringe players a chance to show their wares.

If Byrnes gets dropped out of the side, hopefully it's because someone at VFL level has earned his spot. We need upward pressure on our 22.
