I'm not really keen on any changes this week apart from maybe Richards. Lippa and the Bailey boys deserve a run of games to get the feel for AFL again. Richards has a severe case of the second year blues and as much as I love the kid he is a liability at the moment. Not sure who we replace him with though. Lewy Young sounds in good form and another tall would be nice but he is mostly playing ruck. Do we try him up forward? Do we play him in the ruck and play English forward? Do we play English forward, Young back and Trengove and/or Cordy in the ruck? The options are endless thanks to bevidges versatility philosophy.

Out: Richards, McLean. Yeah, I know, hate me all you want but he adds nothing to this side

In: West, Le. Young.

English 2nd ruck, Trengove 1st. Let English ease into that first ruck spot over the rest of the season, gradually taking more and more minutes. Young will get smashed but he hasn't had a run of games in a long time. Tell West to focus on tackling and nothing else.

Do they bring in Jong - for he’s hardness?
And least he “will have go”

Must drop Richards, he's been a passenger all year. We absolutely need another tall so Lewis Young must play. That will help Cordy and Wood considerably. Dale was poor but will probably get another chance considering the mediocrity tolerated this year. I'll be OK with that as long as we include the extra tall. Being undersized has killed us this year :(

The current plight of the list is exemplified in this and other selection threads.

Every suggestion has a basis but the grim reality is none of the suggestions actually end up with a significantly stronger team than the week before.

Starting this mid season draft we really need to start balancing out the list. If we are picking up C graders, which all teams have, make sure they are specific role players for example Lloyd and not generalists such as Trengrove who having no real specialisation really do not add too much other than being a trier and good person and clubman. We had one of those who actually was a pretty good back in Roughy.

Selection should now start to reflect who we see moving forward, who we want to see if they can move forward, and a focus on some specialised development of individual players

Out: Richards
In: Schache

West Coke are big and unless we scrub the ball in along the ground to our forward line we may as well not turn up. Richards had a shocker and has been carried most of the year so he can have a spell and get some form and confidence back. Schache is a future and we need to get senior games into these guys and let them run and jump and mark and at least have someone we can kick the ball in the air to. Tarrant killed Naughton on the weekend and when English went down there and Cordy went into the ruck we actually went better. Cordy had more hitouts than English. We were too small on the weekend and WC are bigger than North.

Not sure who I want out or in. Eagles are great overhead so any tall coming in wont do anything except be out bodied and out marked every time it comes their way.

Probably no changes.

IN: Josh Scahche, Lewis Young, West
Out: Bailey Dale, Ed Richards, Mclean

WTF's happened to Lynch? Has had one solid VFL game all year and then been in the worst half dozen for every other game...

Out: Richards (to play wing or behind the ball where he is better suited)
In: Lewis Young.

We desperately need to play 2 tall forwards and 2 tall defenders at all times.

VFL reports have Le Young as the best candidate for promotion, with everyone excited at how Vandermeer and West are developing.

Richards must be demoted. He had a very poor game against North and should have been dropped the week before. Needs to be much harder at the ball and earn some tough disposals in the VFL.
Lewis Young needs to come in for more height and versatility.
Our best 22 is really only a best 15 or 16, the rest can be made up of just about anyone else as long as they show a strong work ethic and are prepared to run.
