I'm pretty sure he hasn't, there is a rule around if you are in the AFL team at the end of the year you don't qualify - unless the crows are in the finals. Heard that on the radio last week. I'm not the expert though.

Rules are more than 50% of the SANFL Season and 3 games after June 30. He has played the 2nd of July, the 8th of July and the 15th of July. So just qualifies.

"To be eligible, AFL-listed players must have played more SANFL matches than AFL games across the minor round while also fronting for at least three SANFL appearances after June 30."

Thanks, Crouch played 2 July, 8 July, 15th July, then made the AFL team vs Melbourne 23rd July - so looks like he does qualify.

Hinge didn't look 100% so rest him
Lairds shoulder still being managed? Resting him would actually be ideal as itd open up the mids for opportuniuty (crouch + Dawson then rotate the kids through and will be times with 2 kids + 1 of them)

Id like to see Pedlar/Rachelle and ideally Rankine get strong mid minutes.
A debutant would be good too

Dont need to go crazy to still get something different out of the game and whether we win/lose from there doesn't really matter

In a bit of a pickle now, losing takes away any leverage we’d have for finals compensation.

This is selfish of me but I care more about the draft pick than the money. Easy to say though when you aren't the one being screwed out of a pay cheque.

A loss to West coast could be sold to the AFL by the crows as evidence that last weekends events have had a detrimental effect on the mental health of the players.. and they just couldnt get up for the West Coast game…

“The young crows side was mentally drained and disillusioned after being denied a chance at a finals berth due to the AFL’s complete and utter incompetence”…

That would be the perfect first or second paragraph in any artice on the front page of the Advertiser after any loss to West Coast..

As soon as public sentiment heads that way, compensation will not be considered.

Oh absolutely. They'll try to win and by as much as possible no matter how much it hurts our draft position. That's how the club has always been.

Nope, and if he was going to another club, I think it would be standard, no point in playing SANFL if that was the case. It wouldn't diminish my thoughts on him and what he's given the club.

One thing I would say is that the club forced him to play better if he wanted to play AFL, and he obviously has done that this year. The club playing him the past month has provided him with a huge opportunity to showcase his skills for a better contract, and for that he should also be thankful to the club.

Nicks doesn't really care about draft picks, he cares about win/loss and an extension. He will go in unchanged unless there are injuries or he needs a different structure. The players are competitive so they will go out to win, tbh the players don't care about draft picks as well. I think we will finish in 10th and end up with pick 9. Sloane needs to be dropped for good but I doubt he is.

I think they will want to finish off the year strongly for membership in 2024 and also to finish as high as possible to prove to the AFL that their pathetic system they have in place for incorrect goal umpires decisions cost us finals. Then we can leverage that for a better draw, better timeslots, more games on the mcg and other concessions next year. Hopefully the umpires will actually give us a fair run next year out of guilt. I dont want any more than that, just a fair run instead of the usual biased umpiring we receive.

somewhat Ironic (sad irony) that McAdam started the season with a big ban for a hard hit to the chest for "potential to cause injury" which ruined his season in retrospect and now his season is ended early by a bump that actually hits the head and causes that actual damage as it breaks his cheekbone and that player also gets a lesser penalty than he did! Bewildering

The fact he was criticised in media for even challenging it and this one is now getting challenged adds to that!

Didnt play on the weekend so I assume the injury that saw him miss a game about 2-3 rounds ago (leg injury of some sort) is still giving him drama’s..

Probably being managed ready for finals. They did it with Wright and Madgen on the weekend as well.

So our medicos stuffed his groin rehab? I recall Brad being less than complimentary, but didn’t realise Matt was similar.

isnt coming top more advantageous than coming second in the sanfl?.. unlike it is in the AFL where first and second are really pretty much just the same?..
