Surely after Bolton's performance tonight he deserves to hold his spot. Could well get the job of running with Cox around the ground.

For me,

In: Heffernan, Peverill
Out: Nash, Houli

I feel Heffernan should be brought in to run with Judd. I don't think any other tagger we have, aside from McVeigh who I expect to take Kerr, has the engine to go with him.

Pev's form speaks for itslef this season and should he be fit, he should play.

In my opinion, Jay did very little and needs more time with Bendigo. Didn't look quite up to it tonight despite making a few good contests.

Bachar needs a rest and I don't think it would be sensible to pin him up against the West Coast midfield.

I find it hard to believe they will drop Nash.

They played him when they probably shouldn't have because they have a high opinion of him, he should be set next week to build on what he did tonight. Which probably wasn't that much.

If Pev doesn't get up for next week, we'll need Heff to play on Kerr or Judd.

Tomorrow permitting...

IN - Pev/Heff and Hislop
OUT - Houli, Bolton

I dont reckon Heff will be able to hold either of these guys. I reckon Slattery will get one of them and McVeigh might get the other, or even Bolton or Pev or MJ might get a crack.

Those 2 wont come in. Pev will if he is fit obviously, but Heff wont play a huge role against the Eagles. I would much prefer to see Dyson :thumbsu: , Lonergan or Hislop come in.

Why wouldn't Heff play a massive role against the Eagles?

West Coast have probably the best 2 midfielders going around, each with massive engines. Heffernan could be a very useful tagging option as he possesses reasonable pace and a good fitness base. I think that's cause for belief that he could play a massive role in negating the West Coast midfield.

If Dyson plays a ripper for Bendigo, he could be considered. However, I don't think this is going to be a game where he could be influential. Our midfield is going to have to play a tough brand and that's not exactly Dyson's game.

As for Hislop and Lonergan, I don't think we could afford to have them in the side. I feel that they could be liabilities against the best in the business.

I don't think Slattery has the pace or the fitness and Pev and MJ would be left behind by Kerr or Judd pace wise.

The fact of the matter is, basically nobody can hold Kerr and Judd. I think Heff, along with McVeigh, is our best option to attenpt to nullify them.

So would Houli IMO, they are both still learning. So why not make a change of Liability for Liability?

I don't reckon anyone can really hold those guys, I think Heff can restrict their effectiveness though. That's only if Pev doesn't play.

I wouldn't think of playing Heff if Pev is fit.

I think Slattery will play at half back on their resting midfielder.

Basically, I dont reckon we will be able to tag Judd, Kerr, Braun and all the rest of them. So our best option would be just to play our own game in the midfield and hope we come out ontop.
Wishfull thinking.....i doubt we'd be able to come out on top, the best we can do is break even IMO, and hopefull win around the rest of the ground.

I agree with you in that Nash came in too early and I don't think the coaching staff had plans to do that either but in the end, due to lack of options, they didn't have much choice.

I think Nash should get a couple of weeks back at Bendigo and then be brought back. Given how much he's done, I don't believe we should be playing him unless he's cherry ripe.

That would definitely suit me....although Id be looking to drop Laycock also. I think Hille can go with Cox with Ryder helping out. Leaves Fletcher and Mal to contend with Lynch and co.

Id like to see Nash play again at the Dome....we'll need all the run we can get and as we've come to witness in games against WCE, the first quarters are generally high scoring between our two sides. Nullifying their effectiveness to break the game wide open early is the key to sticking with them over the duration of the game.

From all reports he's been close to selection the last two weeks. So it sounds as if they may have been looking for an excuse to get him in the side.

I think Laycock will play, Seaby has been in great form. And I thought Laycock worked harder tonight. He has great hands.

I agree. Nash at the Dome could be vital.
Nash playing somewhere near his best gives the opposition another player to worry about.

Whats wrong with Houli. Only joking I agree he did nothing.

Bolton on the other hand held Goodes and kicked two good timely goal and probably amongst our best. I think he deserves to stay.

Who will Bolton run with though? Embley is injured. We need more run for this game...simple as that. Take them on at their own strengths.

SUB-THREAD Where does this result leave Bradley? When you look at the running players we have out, Johns also waiting in the wings and dare I say Bolton in the mix...is he further down the pecking order?

Leave Nash in great disposal and a great head on his shoulders..We have to play our game against the eagles with the personell we want. However that squad must be able to go to plan b or shut down wce if required. Top heavy and we lose..Play Bolts on a HFF and tell him to lead all night to the wings as a link man.

As much as it pains me to suggest this....wouldnt mind seeing Campo against them also. See if he still has it in him to shark some of Cox's tapwork and be able to position himself accordingly.
