So would Houli IMO, they are both still learning. So why not make a change of Liability for Liability?

Or we could not bring in a liability at all for Houli and play Heffernan. Heffernan could step straight into a set role whilst Hislop or Lonergan would have to be used sparingly as they're still finding they're feet at senior level. I don't think we can risk having passengers int he midfield.

I think we should bring in Lonernan and he could just play off the bench, and we can put them in the midfield to have a run, and if it looks like he doesn't know WTF's going on, then we can just bench him for a senior midfielder who know's what they are doing or just stick him in the forward pocket (he doesn't play too bad there). We can afford to do that with one player IMO. As for Heffernan, he didn't exactly have that great of a game, so I don't think we should bring him in at all.

OUT: Houli, Bolton

IN: Hislop, Dyson

- Dont think we need the extra tall. Only way Bolts should play is if Embley plays. He will be a liability against WCE. We need an extra midfielder. We already have Mal, Lucas, Hille and Laycock all whom struggle with lateral movement. WCE will run us into the ground.

- Can't wait till we get NLM back. Hopefully Dempsey, Jetta, Gumby and even Neagle can get right and get a few games down the track.

- Dont think Pev should come straight back. I like Ricky. Think we could use his skills against WCE. Wouldnt be upset if Pev played though.

- Hislop to run with Judd.
- Watson to go head to head with Kerr
- Mal on Lynch
- Think our defense will match up well with them. We defend the high ball well, just gotta make sure our half backs keep dropping back and cover their leading space.
-We need to have players across half forward that will and can run, we need to match them for workrate across the ground
- On Telstra I think we can win this game. If we can break even with their midfield, I reckon we'll be alright. Cannot afford to get killed at stoppages.

just as a left field option - davey on judd or kerr? Really quick and good tackler, could throw them off their games. Very doubtful it would happen de to size difference but could almost be worth a gamble

Bingo. Our forwards and defenders really should win, so its just a matter of our mids doing their best. As long as we dont get thrashed in clearances, we should be OK. Also gotta hope Lynch doesnt have his kicking boots on.

Hislop to run with Judd, that's a bit ambitous, a debutee get's the greatest midfielder in the comp.....no. If we can't afford to get killed in the middle, then why would we put a 1st gamer on the best mid in the comp? As for Dyson, no way. He had a shocker of a game for Bendigo, plus there's way better player's that could come in instead of him.

Have they got another good forward besides Lynch?

Outs: Laycock, Houli, (Bolton)
Ins: Pev, Lonergan, (Campo)

Laycock is just way too slow at the moment. West Coast have Cox, who Hille can run against and Seaby, who Ryder should go ok against. I realise delivery wasn't great, but hwo many times were we a man down when the ball hit the ground and Laycock just lumbered along. He needs magoos time to get better.

Houli has had a good go, reckon its time another youngster came in. Lonergan would seem the best of the bunch.

Bolton - while he is an enigma and uslesss 9 times out of 10, he has earnt his spot for this week, however if he gets dropped, then I would prefer campo in. I expect a more boltonesque perfromance this week, so it may be better to cut and run while you are ahead.

Dropping one tall and a small for two smalls aint so bad. WC are not overly big, but are quick and we will need lots of runners to match their fitness.

If we don't need an extra tall, I think it should be Laycock dropped. I think a possible role for Bolton would be running with Cox around the ground as he's tall enouigh in the marking contest and certainly good enough to go with Cox's fitness. If Bolton runs with Cox around the ground, David Hille, with some support from Ryder, would be right to run out the game in the ruck himself. I feel Laycock would be too much of a liability against Cox and could only really ruck against Seaby. Cox would destroy him around the ground because fitness is possibily his best asset, as opposed to Laycock where it is his achilles heel.

I disagree with Hilsop on Judd and Watson on Kerr. Hislop is just far too inexperienced to run with Judd in my opinion. I couldn't see him providing much resistance. As for Watson on Kerr, I don't believe we can sacrifice our only player, aside from Hird, that can get first hands on the abll around a marking contest. The ball must be Watson's primary aim and not a direct opponent. I propose we bring Heffernan in to run with one of Judd and Kerr and McVeigh to run with the other. Despite not ripping it apart against Coburg, Heffernan is an experienced tagger with pace, good skills and good fitness. I see no better options aside from McVeigh. I hope to see McVeigh do a similar job to the one he did on Power against Brisbane.

Poor Alwyn would collapse after 10 minutes.

He wouldn't have the motor to go with him, nor would we want to lose his attacking prowess.

People talk about tag Judd, tag Kerr, tag Fletcher etc....that really means"lets chase them and watch them take the ball"

We have to contain more than just the WC stars. You've also got,Rosa,Hurn,Priddis,LaCras,Jones etc..

The key to beating WC is to not let them get the ball (as Geelong did)...around ball-ups and centre square bounces.

JJ,Hird,Watson,Stanton,Pev...and the usual suspects, have to win alot of those clearences.
Hille will have to play a blinder and I'm praying Laycock doesn't get slaughtered when its his turn in the ruck.

Wonder if Woosha will put Wirrapanda back in his defence or let him battle it out with our defenders?
Chick's in form,Kerr always plays well coming back,Lloydy will have to beat Glass..it won't be easy.

Pev on Judd. Slattery on Kerr because Henry has a bit of mongrel in him like Kerr. Fletcher on Lynch.

Hope they put Staker on Lucas:thumbsu:

Can't wait...the WC fans are worried about it already.

id say chuck it out there and put mcviegh on judd and perverill on kerr. WE have other options if this begins to fail. Yes eagles may dominate the middle, but then again so do most teams against us. Essendon have one of the best defence going around and eagles have one of the worst. Fletcher and michael will have a day out with mcphee helping. If we can keep this too a low scoring game we will win because eagles will just not be able to find the forwards to kick a winning score. Hird, Lloyd, lucas, davey will kick us a winning score. Eagles can only win this game if there midfield can cover all areas of the ground. Set to be a close game by bombers are in with a great chance,

i disagree i think the key is tagging.. i pretty much thing we are no hope of winning the clearences. eagles are so dominant there. geelong and hawthorn are two teams who are great in the middle and getting first hands on the ball we arent. Hille isnt a great tap ruckman (his influence is mainly around the ground), so 75% of the time cox will get the hitout, meaning to stop them getting the clearences we need to be right with their players to tackle them and hopefully put enough pressure so they give it up... everyone knows the eagles midfeild depth however we have the best backline in the comp and if we can put a lot of pressure on(tagging) their most accuract disposers of the ball (judd, kerr) then there disposal inside 50 will be affected and we can rebound through the likes of fletcher, mcphee, ryder which is our greatest strength and get the ball down to lloyd and lucas..... we are never going to beat the eagles trying to beat them in the clearences (kangaroos tried that and lost and there midfeild kicked our midfeilds ass).. we have to tag, its the only way we can win

id like to see mcveigh on kerr instead, kerr has a hell of a lot of strength and mcveigh does too, mcveigh could match him in that department, i also would like to see mcveigh run off and play an attacking role on him aswell, this would make kerr more accountable and we saw mcveigh do this to perfection against luke power.. pev should get the first crack on judd, welsh could be another one who could be considered.

Heres a thought. I was thnking today, why even bother tagging Judd? He beats tags 9/10 times anyway. We should try to tag guys like Braun, Priddis, Waters and maybe Kerr. At least that way, instead of a players sacraficing their game to try and stop Judd who is unstoppable, they stop players who actually are stopable. Tagging Judd would just be like playing with one less player. Does this make sense to anyone else?

He's always going to get the footy but you still need someone on him to make sure he's under enough pressure that it's hard for him to do much good with it.

He would absolutely shred us if not tagged.

I disagree.

In theory, it's a great idea but what must be understood that even taggers that are beaten go some distance in lowering Judd's influence. I think we'd be far too at risk of having Judd do something like he did at the GABBA in just his second season, that being kick 5 goals in a half and have near on 20 touches. Thankfully for the Lions he didn't get to play the second half. How good Judd would be without attention is unimaginable.

Obvioulsy have someone standing with him at the stoppages, thats a given, but I dont see the point in someone trying to got with him around the ground. Its just a waste of efort IMO.

nah sorry disagree.. judd isnt that good that he plays every game and dominates taggs every game, he didnt have a great game last week and someone did well on him against the swans and i think sewel did a good job on him against the hawks.... hell have to be at his best to dominate mark mcveigh if that who gets the job on him....

also i think a combination of both may be the best way to go... mcveigh would do an awesome job on him i think... do the same role that he did when he played on power.. stay with him restrict his influence to an extent and then play off him when theres an openning and kick a few goals forward.... then judd will have to be accountable on mcveigh.. definately cant let him run free tho,
peverill wont have the strength or speed to run with judd. mcveigh will have to get the go imo.. welsh could get the go on kerr again or was he on cousins last time?..

i would love to see mcveigh and welsh get stuck into them and give them a bit of physical attention aswell... seemed to work last time...

Se thats the problem. We wold have to sacrifice probably our best midfielder of the year to go with him. It just seems like a nil all draw. I would rather use someone like Slattery, Welsh of MJ on guys like Braun, Priddis and Kerr. That way we can hopefully beat three of their better midfielders while keeping our attacking midfielders free to attack.
