We need to make a fair amount of changes weekly for now on, I want to look at every single player on this list and then decide whether or not they are up to it. So far it seems that 80% of players simply are an absolute joke. My changes would be:

IN:

Jetta - How he hasn't got a game yet is truely beyond me. He actually goes in hard, takes the game on and has decent skills. I simply laugh at people who constantly defend marshmallows like watts yet can bag jetta.

Bail - Gives really good run and carry even though his skills are fairly average. Midfield depth and gut running is exactly what we need so he is a must for mine.

Gawn - Must be better than Jamar and we need a guy that can potentially give our midfielders an advantage with first use of the ball. God knows they need it.

Tapscott - Must reward Casey form and kicking six is a decent effort. He needs to either be played up forward as a defensive tackling machine or even on-ball and told to cause some serious pain to the opposition. Will inject a bit of mongrel that we need.

Kent - Had a good NAB cup and should have been played earlier. Similar to Bail he can run hard all day and isnt afraid of body contact which half our side is afraid of. Want him to get an extended run as I think he could be a decent player for us.

OUT:

Jamar - Jamar was literally useless Saturday night and I laughed at how pathetic and clueless he was against Ryder and Bellchambers. Dropping chest marks surely tells us he needs an extended break at Casey.

Gillies - Wow I thought he actually showed some sort of promise at Geelong, how very very very wrong I was. Pedestrian is a kind description.

Sellar - Just isn't up to it, makes okay body position but has concrete hands, the ball just never sticks and is a complete liability at ground level. Gives off the impression that he tries but I would like to see him never in a melbourne jersey again.

Watts - Couldn't care less how talented he is, needs to realise that he holds no special advantage and two pathetic performances surely tells him he needs an extended break at Casey. Has clear attitude issues also so I would like to see him at Casey for a very long time.

Nicholson - The fact that Terlich is playing makes his positon in the side fairly useless. Couple that fact that he is playing the role of a small defender with no football brain and horrendous skills shows that he is a massive laibility to the team. In fact he quite possibly is the worst player of that position in the league.

Dropping 2 tall forwards for running players is what we need badly, we have no midfield depth so we need to shed the height for the ability to run out games. Barely registering a score in the second half is testament to that.

To make us a crapload more competitive we need to play tougher players in the centre as right now we have N. Jones and that is it. Playing Tappy, Sylvia and Kent/Bail in there will help enormously and if Sylvia fails this last midfield test then he is done forever say no more.

Lastly, I understand this is a fairly drastic change to team structure but something needs to be done, what we are doing now clearly isnt working and Neeld must be flexible otherwise it's time to go.

I think Tapscott could be a good option as a defensive forward on Waters (or Hurn). The MCG would probably explode if they (he and Waters) had a proper one-on-one contest.

In any case, time to give Tappy a defined role in the team. The man has talent and hardness but has spent most of his MFC games wafting around the HFF/HBF with little to no direction. He will never be the type to rack up 30 touches, so he needs to learn to have proper impact with a defined role and also with his disposal.

I think your right in that we need to make drastic changes but big changes every week would be just as bad. Drop the players that are a liability (admittedly that was 3/4 of the team saturday night) but once you get some players in positions that suit them and they show skill in keep them there.
Jack Watts looks like he would be really comfortable cutting oranges for Casey for a few weeks then he could step up and cut oranges for the Dees

I'd go with this.

IN: McKenzie, Tapscott, Bail

OUT: Gillies, Sellar, Toumpas,

B: Garland Frawley Terlich
HB: Nicholson McDonald Grimes
C: Sylvia Jones Blease
HF: Howe Watts Byrnes
F: Rodan Clark Davey
R: Jamar McKenzie Viney
Int: Trengove Tapscott Bail
S: M. Jones

As soon as you put Spencer in ahead of Gawn you were wrong, Gawn dominated at Casey and should replace Jamar and Clark can back up.

Really?

Gawn plays his first full game of football in 2 years and we chuck him straight into the seniors?

He should play at least 8 games at Casey before we consider him, at least.

If I have to see 8 games of Spencer (or even 1 game of him for that matter) or more games of Jamar rucking like a f***ing pansy then I will not only neck myself but I fear that I may unleash rage upon everybody around me at games (ie suicide bomb).

Honestly feel like Spencer would offer more in the ruck than Jamar would at the moment, and while Spencer does nothing else around the ground, neither does Jamar. Sad really, but i'm glad we have Gawn making his way back.

I absolutely love that we got Hogan last year, but if managed to somehow keep pick 13, it could've been very handy to draft Grundy with.

Jetta will surely get a game soon. Sounds like Kent had a good game even though he was ill.

On that topic - Kent was ill (but played), Troy Davis pulled out due to illness, and Watts was ill and played. Something obviously going around the club.

Righto, but the selection panel probably doesn't share the view that Jamar is that unpalatable compared to a green 4-gamer one match into an ACL comeback. I'd love to see Gawn, but it won't be until after the bye at least.

Similar for Bail... Has only played one game this year, needs more conditioning before he might play MFC.

You're predicting what our selection panel might think? This is the same selection panel that picked a back six that was over 190cm, they have no idea what they are doing.

This deserves a banning.

Lay off the kid, he tried all night.
yeah only thing he was trying was his magic and not in the football sense the disappearing act looks seriously lost out there its alright though he is a great kick hahahaha does he know he has to get the ball first

Really good to see people finally omitting Jamar. The guy is awful, always has been except for that one year. He never affects the contest at ground level and barely takes any marks around the ground. Good to see Gawn have a really solid impact on the vfl game at the weekend, fingers crossed he stays injury free and gets some match fitness up. Until then i propose we play Spencil or put Mitch in the ruck with Jamar never showing his face on the mcg again.
in: Spencer, Tapscott, Kent, Evans, Bail, Pederson, Tynan
Out: Jamar, Gillies (GTFO:mad: ) Toumpas, (needs some confidence and experience playing for a winning side won't hurt.) Nicholson, Sellar, Sylvia, Rodan

Blease, Pedo, Tapscott
Barry, Clarke, Davey

I'm against anybody dropping Sylvia until Neeld plays him a full game in the midfield, if he f***s that up then I'll be the first one lining up to kick him in the nads as he comes off the ground.

You mean he's been at the club since 2004 and no one thought to put him through the midfield for a game?

Neeld hasn't and when he plays predominantly midfield he plays well, people just get offended that he doesn't get 30 disposals and 4 goals every week.

Eh, usually doesn't get 20 disposals either. Fair enough if you like him as a player, I can't stand him. Generally only turns up against the terrible sides, if at all. Until Clark found his shooting boots he was our best set shot for goal though. Struggle to find any other positives to his game.

The rub is he's playing down forward and doing nothing all game. When we're getting routinely butchered in the middle of the park for the last X seasons, multiple coaches have left that guy out of the engine room. Seems the ones in charge think he lacks the skill, engine, intelligence, toughness, or some combination thereof to get the job done. If we did play him in the middle, he'd want to get 30 touches and 4 goals because his direct opponent is going to be running amok for four quarters.

Agree about Sylvia, no idea what he's doing on the flank when we have 2-game players starting at centre bounces.

Also I think people are starting to see that Jamar has been overrated on this board for the best part of 2 years now. He was great in 2010, and good sporadically afterwards, but he's really not that good. I would almost prefer Spencer, who in his eight games last year really showed a heap of effort, intensity and heart - not to mention more mobility around the ground.
Plus if Jamar's not playing, maybe we will have to try to hit some targets from kick ins... it may work!

I think the plan is to have the least amount of guys who can run through the middle as possible and then to make sure that some of the remaining guys who could play in the middle don't. You don't win premierships by following trends. Stack all the players in the corridor then avoid it, Zone defenders into all the space where forwards aren't! Coach twitchy is paving a new path by doing the opposite of what the good teams do. They'll never see it coming. :thumbsu:

Out: Jamar (time to retire)

In: Big Maxy Gawn

Obviously others will change as well, but it all starts in the middle at the ball ups.

The Russian has run out of gas, time for an extended run at Casey.

Agree wholeheartedly. However Maxy's only had one run in the VFL and apparently his match fitness isn't quite there yet so i think we should play Spencil for a few weeks before he comes in. Can't wait wait to see him take over the no1 ruck role though.
