Team Captain
We need to make a fair amount of changes weekly for now on, I want to look at every single player on this list and then decide whether or not they are up to it. So far it seems that 80% of players simply are an absolute joke. My changes would be:
IN:
Jetta - How he hasn't got a game yet is truely beyond me. He actually goes in hard, takes the game on and has decent skills. I simply laugh at people who constantly defend marshmallows like watts yet can bag jetta.
Bail - Gives really good run and carry even though his skills are fairly average. Midfield depth and gut running is exactly what we need so he is a must for mine.
Gawn - Must be better than Jamar and we need a guy that can potentially give our midfielders an advantage with first use of the ball. God knows they need it.
Tapscott - Must reward Casey form and kicking six is a decent effort. He needs to either be played up forward as a defensive tackling machine or even on-ball and told to cause some serious pain to the opposition. Will inject a bit of mongrel that we need.
Kent - Had a good NAB cup and should have been played earlier. Similar to Bail he can run hard all day and isnt afraid of body contact which half our side is afraid of. Want him to get an extended run as I think he could be a decent player for us.
OUT:
Jamar - Jamar was literally useless Saturday night and I laughed at how pathetic and clueless he was against Ryder and Bellchambers. Dropping chest marks surely tells us he needs an extended break at Casey.
Gillies - Wow I thought he actually showed some sort of promise at Geelong, how very very very wrong I was. Pedestrian is a kind description.
Sellar - Just isn't up to it, makes okay body position but has concrete hands, the ball just never sticks and is a complete liability at ground level. Gives off the impression that he tries but I would like to see him never in a melbourne jersey again.
Watts - Couldn't care less how talented he is, needs to realise that he holds no special advantage and two pathetic performances surely tells him he needs an extended break at Casey. Has clear attitude issues also so I would like to see him at Casey for a very long time.
Nicholson - The fact that Terlich is playing makes his positon in the side fairly useless. Couple that fact that he is playing the role of a small defender with no football brain and horrendous skills shows that he is a massive laibility to the team. In fact he quite possibly is the worst player of that position in the league.
Dropping 2 tall forwards for running players is what we need badly, we have no midfield depth so we need to shed the height for the ability to run out games. Barely registering a score in the second half is testament to that.
To make us a crapload more competitive we need to play tougher players in the centre as right now we have N. Jones and that is it. Playing Tappy, Sylvia and Kent/Bail in there will help enormously and if Sylvia fails this last midfield test then he is done forever say no more.
Lastly, I understand this is a fairly drastic change to team structure but something needs to be done, what we are doing now clearly isnt working and Neeld must be flexible otherwise it's time to go.
