My changes:
Wright-McMahon
Ross-Harding
Campbell-Speight
Jones-Edwards
Harvey (if suspended)-Gartlett

and i'd consider Smith for Goldy (although Goldy has been ok)
Cunnington for Zeibel
and Well's could do with a spell in the two's to either get his mojo back or teach him how to work hard, whichever he seems to need.

I like to take it upon myself to make note of everything the BF serial whipping boys do.

Hale - Was very good last night. Should have had 6 shots at goal with that free kick not paid, but led hard, contested, laid a few tackles and provided a presence.

Thomas - It wasn't his best game, but who can blame a small forward for not getting into the game when the ball never reached our forwardline. At some stages he was forced to go to our half backline to make an impact, and laid a few good tackles and was pretty composed when he got the ball.

Jones - Was pretty constructive when the ball eventually reached our forwardline, although he gets beaten in a contest a lot these days (but who didn't?).

Ross - For a midfielder, he did not get enough of the ball. When he did get the ball, he was hitting targets over 50m and placing it to our players advantage. His skills have seemed to improve, so I'd like a percentage of how much gametime he actually got last night.

Rawlings - Racked up 34 touches and was good, but a lot of his kicks are either hospital kicks and a couple went out on the full.

Urquhart - Was one of our only blokes that could hit a target last night and wasn't too bad.

Hansen - Was very good IMO last night. 4 of the goals Riewoldt kicked it appeared Hansen wasn't on him, Grima/Thompson/Firrito were. Racked up 19 disposals and his marks backing back into the pack were a highlight.

As for the changes.

Outs: Adams (hate to say it, he's one of my favourites), Harvey (Susp?), one of Wright/Urquhart/Ross.

In: Harding, McMahon, Cunnington/Speight, Tarrant.

CJ gets another week.

Campbell was bad but played well in round 1, and as I said earlier, you cannot blame a small forward for being unable to impact the game last night, especially when they had to go up the ground and compete with midfielders for a kick.

I agree was easily one of our better players.

Is gaining confidence.

You can see it in his marking.

One of the few players you will see this year, that will have the balls to lead Nick Riewoldt to the ball.

As you said, most of Riewoldts goals were kicked on Thompson and Grima.

It's all a learning curve, battling against Riewoldt, will give hm the confidence to try and beat blokes like Kennedy the following week.

I disagree with you about Ross and Urquhart, for every great thing Ross does, he undoes it with a shocking decision or disposal his very next possession.

Its too costly at this level, he needs to go back to the VFL.

Swallow and Anthony have had shocking starts to the year.

Swallow' numbers wern't bad last night, but make no mistake, he was absolutely slaughtered in the contested ball, for the second week running.

Again, Anthony's numbers havn't been bad, but for the last 2 weeks runnning, he has played an outside role, directly on an opposing player willing to get the contested ball, and amass the same amount of numbers.

Its far to damaging to the team, you cant afford to play an outside player in the center bounce in the modern game.

I'd like to see Anthony moved to a wing, Rawlings brought into the center bounces for some experience, and McMahon brought into cover his defensive spot.

I must have been watching a different game  He was rubbish

8 disposals at 60% efficiency, yep, ur right, he's a gun !!!!!!!!

Good to see everyone thinks Urquhart survives the chop with a stunning 10 disposal game:rolleyes:

Outs: Wright, Ross, Urquhart, Thompson, Boomer (if suspended)

In: McMahon, Harding, Cunnington, Tarrant, Speight (if Boomer suspended)

Il spew if Tarrant is brought into play a defensive role.

Our half forward line is completely dysfunctional atm, to the point its non existant. FFS we had Corey Jones playing CHF last night.

We have a 6"5, 95kg, 20 year old, first round draft pick, that has played his entire junior career there.

Whos kicked multiple goals in the VFL for the last 3 weeks.

Coming off a 100 point drubbing, in which we kicked 6 goals for the entire match!

If not now? When ever?

Especially when we are coming up against a side as young as ours next week, at home.

We need a tall target accross half forward that can impose himself, Jones isn't that person, and il be ****ed if we give Edwards and Smith another chance before we blood Tarrant.

Big men take time, as we've seen with Hansen, McIntosh etc.

We can't expect to keep stop-gapping our forward line, and someone like Tarrant to be shuffled around in the backline for 2 years, and suddenly need him to be our saviour at FF in 2 seasons time!

Scott mentioned we are not playing Ziebell in a back pocket, Bastinac in a forward pocket, and Hansen as a 4th tall.

I hope he backs that comment up, and plays Tarrant at CHF or FF for the entire match against the Eagles.

Yep - bring in Tarrant.

Hale is looking ok but he needs another big forward to complement him and drag away the third man up.

IN: Tarrant, Harding, McMahon
OUT: Jones, Adams, Ross

One of Wright or McMahon to play forward.

Cunnington to debut in round 6.

As I mentioned, his disposal count wasn't high enough which is why I'd like to see how much game time he got before I comment.

I saw 2 kicks where he hit a target or placed it to our guys advantage roughly 50m or over, and you're right, his disposal count isn't high enough, either was Urquhart's.

I just don't think axing 5 young guys will help the team in the long run. Ross will most likely be dropped this week understandably, but I don't see the point in dropping all of Ross, Adams, Urquhart, Wright etc. Just to bring in more young guys, but I could understand if it were to be done.

Harding and McMahon have to come in, arguably Tarrant, Edwards and Cunnington aswell.

We need to give our blokes a good 4-5 games of a moderately settled lineup before we start making 5 changes every week. I'm as disgusted as everyone else with the loss.

According to Sunday Footy show (Nathan Thompson & Nathan Brown) he's a ball watcher and had an avg game. (Had 5 clangers, most in the team)

all u calling for goldy to be dropped are crazy he isnt a backline player i thought he was ok the ones who are in trouble of being dropped this week are campbell, thomas, ross, adams, firrito the inclusions would be speight, tarrant, edwards, cunnington and harding or mcmahon

The only reason why I'd drop Goldy is because, we need a more mobile forward line and we can't have 4 talls. Hamish and Hale were better than Goldy today. If he is not playing in the ruck then don't play him at all.

They highlighted it perfectly, there is no way Hansen was in our best players.

A couple of those clangers (turnovers by foot) were during Lachie's bad start. A lot of the other clangers IIRC were when the Saints were putting immense pressure on our boys and our over-use of the handball ran Lachie into trouble a few times, correct me if I'm wrong though.

FWIW Ziebell had 4 clangers from 9 disposals. Even players with very good kicking skills struggled last night. Harvey 3 clangers from 5 disposals.

I'm totally with you on that one. Tarrant comes in for Thompson, but plays as a forward. We don't need Thompson in the side if he is going to play on smalls anyway, McMahon can do that job.

Rawlings Grima Firrito

McMahon Hansen Wells

Anthony Ziebell Bastinac

Warren Tarrant Jones

Thomas Hale Campbell

McIntosh Swallow Harding

INT: Goldstein Cunnington Speight Adams or Pratt

If Greenwood is fit he replaces whoever out of Adams and Pratt.

We need toughness in the middle. I called for it last week, but obviously Greenwood and Cunnington aren't ready yet. Get them in there ASAP. Cunnington this week, maybe Greenwood next.

Ross out. Just not up to it. Ditto Urquhart. Wright either needs to be moved to the midfield or forward, or go back to the VFL and work out how not to be utter shit in the defensive 50.

In - McMahon, Harding, Cunnington
Out - Ross, Urquhart, Swallow

Massive rocket for Thompson and Wells. Harvey will bounce back, no rocket required.

Free kicks against are clangers too. They are not just disposal errors.

Can someone please explain to me what Tarrant has done during the NAB cup to warrant selection because I am clearly missing something?

From the Geelong and Fremantle game I saw, he was beaten on both occasions, he looked lost and purely and simply just not up to it.

To me it looked like he needs to string a significant amount of games together in the VFL which he hasn't had the luxury of doing so far in his career before he is ready to take the next step at AFL level.

I can not think of a single key defender currently in our 22 who is worse than Tarrant at this particular point in time.
