mass changes wont help......this is about understanding that whilst guys like Thompson / Grima / Warren / Levi / Goldy / JZ / LA etc etc showed great promise last year the reality is that they are still a fair way off playing consistent footy at the highest level.

We all got really excited last year about some of the kids stepping up but they are all still inexperienced.

It bloody hurts but we need to be patient.

It terms of expectations that NAB cup win over Geelong didn't help.

Where is the intensity on display in that game?

I think it started earlier than the Geelong game. As soon as Thompson and Narni played a couple of good games we all got really excited and said we had found our FB and CHB. Sure we may have but they are still learning and will have shockers.
The same can be said for JZ / LA and even Warren. They show a bit in a handful of games and we expect North to turn it all around in less than a season on the back of a dozen or less games from these kids.

In reality it will probably take 3 -5 years. And whilst we wait we will cop hidings like this. The saints were a basket case whilst Roo and Kosi and co got their shit together. It took years for them and the cats.

Our time will come.

I'm not sure who could come in but we need a drastic change in our forward line ASAP!! Both matches this season have looked horrible in terms of forward structure. We don't have any real targets aside from Hale. Granted, Warren is going well but he's not a full time target in the forward line. Until Drew comes back, who can we put in there alongside Hale? Smith? Edwards? Tarrant? Black? Is there no one?

Cunnington will debut next week.

As will Tarrant.

Few young boys need to gain some confidence in the VFL.

In saying that, the axe has to be well and truely swung.

We are a proud football club, and tonight I was absolutely embarrassed.

Out: Harvey (?), Wright, Ross, Adams, Urquhart.

In: Cunnington, Tarrant, McMahon, Harding, Speight.

The 3 guys who really stand out are Ross, Adams and Urquhart (All have played a few games and have been on the list for a while). Wright has also been poor, but at least has good disposal, and I think we have to persevere with some players. I would also give Bastinac a rest, because while he has shown glimpses of his potential he is not ready to contribute for 4 quarters yet.

So my ins/outs.

Out : Ross, Adams, Urquhart and Bastinac.
In : Speight, Cunnington, McMahon and Harding.

Christ the guy was far from our worst, he actually didnt cough the ball up when he had it.

And he only played about 60% game time, of which he had 6 clearances, out of 12 possessions!

Urquhart was the only guy who could hit a target tonight. Bastinac was our best inside mid.

I like Wright but that role ain't working for him. The opposition coaches worked him out after one NAB Cup game.

I'm not sure what the changes should be but McMahon and Harding must come straight back. Insane decision to drop them if there wasn't any off field stuff.

Thompson has been consistently pathetic for the entire pre season. He would be the first tall to go IMO.

He's getting the wrong opponents. WTF was he doing on Milne and Ebert? Stupid. I'd rather him playing 3rd man up and rebound than plan on them.

One of the talls has to go, and Hale was okay tonight IMO.

Good one. Hale has been getting bullsh!t supply, but has been looking ok as a FF. Got to persist until Drew comes back at least. I'm still not too keen on dropping Goldy, or dropping kids for kids in general. There's not much benefit in dropping say Bastanic for Cunnington. We must have some experience in the midfield. Jeez I wish Wells would have a crack!! Sure Boomer had a dud, but as somebody else said, NOBODY helped him out all night. We didn't look like a team tonight.

Agree in part. I love ST but something is amiss ATM so he needs to drop a level & work back in the hard way.

Match-ups were puzzling. Starting ST on Milne was dangerous but 2 goals in it was ludicrous. Goldstein on Reiwoldt was the corker for me though. What did we expect to happen?

Also, the 1st qtr was made worse by some terrible umpiring; It made a 5-6 goal qtr an 8-goal ascent.

Hindsight is wonderful but McMahon / Harding would not have allowed Milne the picnic he enjoyed all night. Urquhart has to go. Everyone was ordinary tonight but he's been ordinary for longer...
