There's a few others:

Waterman.
Brockman.
I presume Cripps, as Mainwaring was his 2nd cousin. Could be wrong.
Kelly.
Hough.
Champion.

Waterman followed Port. Said it in a podcast last year.

Came from his old man coaching Peel at the same time he was a kid and they had the same colours.

But to add to your list, Flynn was an Eagles fan.

Yeah right, I missed that.

But to add to your list, Flynn was an Eagles fan.

Pretty random for a Western Sydney bloke to go for WCE.

To be fair, I have lived in Adelaide my whole life and been to Perth once. I made a good choice very young.

I want to say Flynn's dad or mum is from Perth and that was the connection but can't remember exactly. He posted a pic of him as a little tacker in an Eagles jumper when we picked him up though.

Lifelong West Coast fan apparently.

On a few others:
  • Bazzo - Bulldogs fan
  • Hall - Geelong fan. Grew up in Geelong in until age 10 before family moved back to WA.
  • Edwards - Went for Essendon
  • Yeo, Ginbey, Allan, Davis and Gross were all Freo fans. Gross' mother is from WA, even though he himself is from Vic. Somehow ended up being a Shockers fan.
  • No idea about Dewar.
Very interesting

Thought I heard Davis say he was a Collingwood fan last year after being drafted though

That was debunked by Flynn himself , apparently his local team was the eagles and that was the jumper they played in.

I haven't noticed geography playing a big part in who you support between the Eagles and Dockers.
I’ve always viewed south of the swan and west of the Kwinana freeway to be Freo territory, with the rest of the state being ours. Probably doesn’t play a huge part in reality though.

That Ablett hairline
Suspicious Futurama GIF

Haven't read what this thread is about but going by the title I assume we're all nominating what clubs we're supporting next year following the draft debacle?

Pretty simple choice for me. Going in I said to a mate I'd be supporting whoever Charlie Banfield is playing for next year so pleasingly [given their draw] that'll be Saint Kilda for mine.

I'll still hate watch the eagles naturally and play along in match day threads here for lols as we're really not supposed to run 2 accounts on here per forum rules. A mate was a big Oscar Allan, Kobe Evans and Cody Curtin nuff so he's supporting the Lions. Not the worse choice but to me choosing the reigning premiers is a little on the nose.

Nobody show OP.

‘Freo forever’. Interesting to see if he sticks to that if he gets delisted and ends up elsewhere…

I find it difficult to believe he’s not a bit gutted that he wasn’t matched, and I think that while he might be grateful to Freo for picking him up, he wouldn’t have just forgotten the last 12 years of his life where he was coming through the system and watching the Dogs live.

Its a job/profession, the swich shifts as the club changes. Look at the number of multiclub players. (even ex eagles captains).
Its also in human nature to bond with a new group.
Lerave the irrational emotnions and bed wetting to BF followers.

Maybe its just me but i dont totally understand the OP if Im honest

Player movement in the world game is on another level compared to Afl. Players moving clubs are the same in any sport, its a job and theyre loyal to the club they are at.

Fans I dont think are any less loyal in Afl. Not uncommon for family members to still support their original club but just have a "soft spot" for where their relative is.

Not as fanatical I would agree with. But that comes with the bonus of not having to be segregated and having to be careful what pub you enter beforehand.

Hough is from Harvey like me, and the zoning system doesn’t really affect allegiances in the guys my age or younger. You’re more likely to get his parents to say they went for whoever was their zone in the WAFL when they were kids. My parents went for East Perth and South Fremantle respectively because they grew up in those zones.

When I was in school it was largely eagles supporters with the odd dockers fan or a random vic club. I think my brother was the one dockers fan out of about 30 or so kids in our class. The rest were eagles.
