What ideas do the people here have for improving the game (Dan24 banned from his Minor premiership theory).
The ones I would like to see are-
Advantage Rule- Umpire should raise his hand when he sees an infringement & not blow his whistle until he decides no advantage is there. This would mean the whistle is final & when it is blown a player knows he cannott play on. It would also stop the ones where the umpire calls advantage & one player stops.
The posts to be part of the goal- i.e play on when the ball hits the post if it comes back into play. A goal if it still goes through the goal area.
Remove the restriction of waiting until the flags are waved at kickins & have a spare footy under the control of a steward. Ball can be returned to play as soon as the Goal umpire signals the score to the field umpire.
This would help free the current zoning & flooding problem.

like your advantage rule - very sensible, except that players instead of listening out for the whistle will now have to look around frantically in search of an umpire with his hand up. - Could be a little disconcerting I suppose, but any suggestion is better than what we have to put up with at the moment.

If Dan is banned from talking about his Monor Premier thing then I suppose I cannot talk about a 30 week H & A season ?

Yeah some pretty good ideas Goatmaster

How about free kicks for any out of bounds against the side that last touched it - except when it is done within your FORWARD 50 - normal throw in if it goes out it gets tapped out by the defenders in the 50 metre arc. Then trash the deliberate out of bounds rule!

Only 6 players from each side to be allowed in the 50 metre arc.

Maximum of 2 players ONLY to be allowed to jump on Carey's back at any one time

I like your advantage rule. The hand would really be for the spectators benefit but at least the players know when they hear a whistle the play will stop.

The live post theory will eventually come in I think but not for another 10 years or so.

You have to remember that any major changes to the game must also be able to be accomodated at lesser levels of the game. I know my local club struggles to afford 6 new balls for an entire season. Having to provide extra balls for kick ins and also provide people to chase up the balls once the score is kicked would probably break the sport at grass roots levels.

One more I would like to see at AFL level is the send off rule. I can still not understand why the send off rule is good enough for every game of Aussie rules in this counrty unless it is an AFL game. Don't they commit reportable offences??. And don't give me the story that it would be too dangerous because a player may be sent off when he is actually innocent. Has that stopped them bringing it in in any other sport? And if thats true then why do we have it at all other levels of the game?

BSA- The player does not have to look for the hand as the ball is in play waiting to see if an advantage is playable. When the whistle blows all must stop as the ball will be stopped for a free. I actually agree with the 30 week season so you can have it. (I actually am about 60% to Dan24's minor premiership but not another topic on it please)
Was Dan's monor premiership you posted a joke or a fruedian slip?
Gonzo- agree with you on OOB although I would suggest that when a player takes possesion & kicks the ball OOB that should be a kick. The number of players who blantanly kick for the line is a disgrace to the game. You see guys going 30m straight accross to the line that is not skill. Balls touched would be a throw in.

The current rule frustrates the hell out of me. It is totally at odds with the rest of footy which is a free flowing & attacking game. The current situation with out of bounds is so negative & really needs to be changed.

Good suggestion.

I say scrape the push in the back rule...Because most of time it happens because some slow arse bastard is just jogging with the ball in gets tackled and might happen to be a tad high..It results in the slow arse getting the free kick. Very soft.

yeah, put what you like in its place but the deliberate OOB rule has problems.

I still don't see how a ruckman can smash a throw in 30 m back into the crowd and it is hardly ever called deliberate.
