Kind of ironic they're axing 2 "reality" shows because they're too expensive, when FTA networks have favoured them over scripted shows because they were supposedly cheaper to make.

I only watch Survivor. That being said I don't really watch FTA and it pisses me off that on my foxtel IQ box I need to load up 10play to watch a channel of ****ing television. Can no longer skip ads like I used to be able to.

I honestly can't remember the last time I watched anything on Ch Nein. I watch The Chase Australia on 7, and Have You Been Paying Attention on 10... but I can't recall the last time I watched anything on the Nein network.

There are a small number of successful Ch10 shows which will probably get picked up by the other networks - Aus Survivor, and Have You Been Paying Attention would be part of a very short list.

Haven't watched it for years, i gave up on them as it was absolute crap. With reality shows that are horrendous to The Project which is abhorrent, I am not surprised by this news, free to air is doomed. Is Ch 7 next?

I haven't watched TV via an aerial in years and barely have any idea what's on each night. Even when I watch the only two shows on commercial TV live (Have You Been Paying Attention and Cheap Seats), I do it through the app. Streaming has killed commercial TV, they just don't know it yet, and have diversified into so many channels to compete, no one knows what they are actually about. Channel 10 should probably focus on some kind of identity for each night (i.e. one night dedicated to comedy, one to reality, one to game shows, one to classic shows) and try and get the message out. It's not competing any other way.

Streaming services in the US are bundling together now and offering packages cheaper. Basically offering what cable/foxtel was which they supposedly killed.

Piracy or Youtube/self made content will kill streaming if they're not careful

All FTA TV is rubbish and anti-siphoning laws are shit too. It breeds laziness with FTA TV having no incentive to deliver a premium product.

Its a minor thing but cutting the local news at 5 hurt them a lot

It had lead in programs and The Simpsons at 6 kept viewers there

But yes FTA is dying

I am watching Giro on SBS and will watch Velta TDF etc - mostly the last 30kms after watching streaming

Between 3 and 7,30 I am consuming quiz shows on 7 and SBS then streaming after that or no tv

I think Masterchef a few years ago was the last CH10 program I watched

Channel 7 - The Front Bar & My Kitchen Rules
Channel 10 - Have You Been Paying Attention?
Channel 9 - The Block (Sunday Nights Only)

Channel Ten hasn't been good since Young Talent Time and the early days of Neighbours.

I feel like they’ve only had one hit show at a time since things went pear shaped in 2009-2010. In a given week schedule only one show might be getting talked about. MasterChef S1-2 felt like the last time they were genuinely mainstream. Since then you get a Bachelor or AusSurvivor season or (previously) BigBash that does well among the C10 crowd but it’s otherwise a bit hidden and niche.

Only had a few decent shows, reality TV, terrible soaps, unfunny sitcoms and spammed with ads were a nightmare to be stuck with during the 2000s, I was able to stop watching terrestrial TV after 2008 getting broadband internet. But I thought it was the second best behind 9 at broadcasting AFL.
