Channel 7 can go and get rooted part 2. Collingwood, Essendon fans read this.

Seven have done it again. It seems Collingwood and Essendon will not play on Saturday night on the 18th August, because channel 7 will show some other bloody rugby game. The game will be played on Saturday afternoon instead. This is a reaction to the move by 7. Go to the realfooty site.

Channel 7 are sending the AFL a message as far as I can see. The AFL should never go back to 7 again. Anybody who thinks a rugby game will rate higher than Collingwoodv Essendon, in Melbourne are kidding themselves and can also get rooted along with thugby and 7.

According to the story, channel 7 asked this game to be played on the Saturday night. Then when the AFL does this, 7 go and put some thugby game on instead. Collingwood and the AFL are angry. I am not sure how Essendon feel about it.

Channel 7 should be ashamed of themselves, and they deserve to lose the rights. I know many people who feel the same. Too bad that I am going to a 21st on that Saturday afternoon.

They would have shown a delayed telecast of the game, but that is not the point. 7 wanted this game to be played on Saturday night, the AFL agreed, and channel 7 then do this most discraceful act. I

I nearly stacked my car when I heard that on the news this morning, ch7 are going to do everything in their power to piss off the AFL in revenge for not getting the TV rights.

What is worrying me is, I wonder what time ch7 perth will televise it here, the earliest we will probably see it is 11pm, or maybe not at all, the way things are going here at the moment.

The Rugby finishes at 9:00pm

All Victorian based matches on Saturday nights are shown on delayed telecast at 8:30pm anyway. When was the last "live" Saturday night Victoran match?

The match will be shown in its entirity at 9:00pm, only half an hour after it would be usually shown. Why is this a big deal?

It was only a couple of years ago that ch7 showed Friday night matches from 9.30pm. Then again, the matches did start at 8.10pm instead of of 7.40pm.

Why would Channel 7 put on a sport they will not have the rights too next year over one that they do

One is an international sport and clearly Channel 7 are looking after their long term commercial interests as all TV has done from the word dot

Remember they don't exist to make us happy - they exist to make a profit.

This is a great reason to have a National Broadcaster who of course can't affrod the big sports due to lack of funding.

Look at what a great job SBS do with the soccer.

This is going to happen more and more in the future but its a commercial reality.

Anyone in favour of a free market and non nationalised industries can't really complain.


Its not like you will boycott Channel 7 or anything - and they know that.


So people should stop complaining and get on with it.

im with you jars while what ch7 have done isnt exactly a good PR job towards ess and coll fans however i can understand why they would.in their view they were backstabbed by the afl after 50yrs of loyal service to this great game of ours and then being railroaded. while i can understand ess and coll supporter,s fury at this and dan has sorta hit the nail on the head whats 30mins?

Well if they change it their entire argument on Essendon- Hawthorn is stuffed remember the people who wouldn't be able to change their plans.
