I know being the first to post this thread is life or death, but surely you could at least provide a link when creating the thread? At least that would provide a modicum of context...

Hopefully they have the brains to televise it throughout Australia, and not just in Victoria.
After all, they have Channels 7, 70, 71, 72, and 73.
I know that the will probably just show the WAFL in WA and the SANFL in SA,
but I'm sure a lot of footy followers would love to see their VFL sides play.

If the club was smart, it would be selling off the sponsorship rights to the VFL jumper at a higher rate now.

More ads, worse commentary, booo.

The positive is that the VFL competition gets more exposure which is a great thing for the players and the VFL Magpies.

7 aren't doing it..
Read the article linked earlier.
Channel Seven has added to its bulging sports portfolio by securing the rights to the VFL for the next two seasons, and will link its Saturday broadcast with its AFL coverage.

They are showing it. They aren't producing it.
None of the production, the presenters and the like will be Channel 7 employees.
They will still manage to find a way... lol

In related news, it looks like we're going to be getting the same sort of fixture setup as the last few years:

The 2015 Peter Jackson VFL season will begin mid-April and run over 20 rounds, with the fixture set to be released by mid-December.

Extrapolating, probably means all teams will play 18 games, with 2 byes. Which would be interesting, considering AFL teams will only get 1 bye in 2015. Collingwood likes to synch the AFL and VFL team byes up, so there will be 1 week where the seniors are playing but the 2nds aren't. Pray that someone badly needing some match fitness doesn't get caught out, if that's the case (better still, just pray that we won't have somebody that badly injured that they need badly match practice in the run home of the season)...

In the plus column, at least the Foxtel Cup is set to be scrapped. Which means fewer byes. Thank goodness for small mercies...

Well - The Other Option that there be no Reserve Footy on TV

Why on earth does this need to be done by a commercial network???

It's 2014 ... there's this new fangled thing called "the Internet" which allows video to be easily streamed live all around the planet

As a none Victorian (Melbourne) supporter if we get more coverage of CFC, internet or TV it does't matter 'Good as Gold!'.

I do not care for this unless Phil Clearly is given a leading commentary role and I don't mean the rubbish on the boundary line, it needs to be reinstatmrent in his role as the Richie Benaud of the VFL

Peter Donegan is one of the presenters.
His dad was a member of our 1958 premiership team.

I think it's a good thing.
For one, Macguire Media will do a good job of the production, so it won't look like the back yard football production that abc often looks like. Without the big crowd that's hard, but at least they will use good cameras and sound and try to get entertaining commentators, put some effort in to interviews and player stories and profiles, behind the scenes info etc, it could be really quite a good watch. Macguire media also do the SANFL, amongst a whole lot of other sports broadcasting.

For it to go on a commercial network, both channel 7 and Macguire Media will be looking at ways to turn over a profit from it, and that will require some enhancement of the image and profile of the VFL, which is a good thing. I think VFL can really be made a lot more high profile than it is, same way college basketball and football is in the US. There's a lot of talent running around in the vfl these days, and with a bit of a push I think people will take more interest in it. Especially if they do manage to get the double headers going. They will be looking to profile games with upcoming or returning AFL stars and draft prospects, which most football fans are interested in but wouldn't normally see without getting out to vfl games. That extra push on a commercial channel might get more people interested enough to attend games as well.

but there is no money in that in Australia

I do not know if this is achievable but I would pay as part of my interstate membership to get more VFL coverage, the club can keep my hat and scarf (if it saves money) and provides me with greater game day access AFL/VFL akin.
