Channel 7 vs Fox Footy commentary

You could sync up the SEN commentary from the SEN app on a separate device for situations like this.

Any idea if it's possible to cast that to your TV in a separate audio track?

If you have the choice it’s a pretty easy decision.

Why would you watch ads if you don’t have to.

Absolutely nothing to do with the quality of commentators I just can’t stand watching ads.

Haven’t watched a game on 7 all year and this won’t change.

Chanel 7 is the clear winner imo because of Kane Cornes …. Might raise some eyebrows saying that but I love his commentary work …. The guy is certainly not afraid to speak his mind

Fox has Kelli Underwood, so channel 7 is better by default.

Have said it before and will say it again - Underwood must surely be a podium finisher in the race to find the worst sports commentator in the world.

Channel 7 are just pox. Unlistenable.

The Whately/Huddo/Lyon/Dunstall lineup is as good at it gets. Kelli is hopeless and grating but Dermott by far the worst, automatic turn off or attempt to sync with SEN when he's on. Don't mind BT but nice to never have to listen to Brayshaw again.

So it's been 6 weeks of AFL giving us the option of choosing between the two different broadcast teams and wanted to get people's opinions and takes on it so far, which one have you ended up preferring so far?

I haven't tuned into a single Channel 7 broadcast since the season started honestly and I have to say I've really enjoyed not hearing the typical suspects they have make your ears bleed, like BT and JB, the Fox Footy team is a better broadcast overall and they seem to focus more on actually calling the game, plus they have Matt Hill.

Commentators just have to understand that not every single game, and not every single play, not every single goal and not every single player is the best and most important thing to have happened in the history of world sport.

Calm the **** down and just call what you see FFS.

Hearing Kelli Underwood and Montagna yell at the top of their voice every time a goal is kicked like they're calling the Hindenburg disaster is just idiotic.


I honestly think commentary in most sports cannot make the game better - it can only make it worse.

Not a single event ever in the history of sport was better because of the commentary. Sure, people often associate moments with the commentary - but it in no way did it make it better.

Leo Barry's mark is an example where commentary can make an incredible moment worse for the viewers!

I just use radio for commentary, more freedom in hearing people I can tolerate and putting the TV on mute.

The ending of the US Masters when McIroy won is a perfect example of shutting up and the moment speak for itself

Kelli Underwood, BT, JB and Dermott B are the worst commentators out there.

Only thing that makes channel 7 the especially awful of the two is that JB and BT are usually on the same games.

Fox, thankfully, only puts Kelli on Sunday afternoon games (so just hope your team doesn't get one) and Dermott is normally offset by a good/okay commentator. In this sense, Fox has the better commentary.
