You serious? It's his job to find out how the bloke can bat. At the very least, look at his stats on Cricinfo and see how he has been going?

They can't knock on the BBC box door and ask them? They can't watch vision of him from previous games?

It's his ******* job!

He said he'd made a 1st class 100 but hasn't seen him bat before. Geez, give these guys a break FFS. How about you apply for a job there and show us how it's done huh?

I wish I could.

Unfortunately, I'm a teacher, and I'm busy wasting my time instead of learning how many letters are in the alphabet for when the kids come back Wednesday. It's 29 right?

Don't bag commentators [cricket or footy] as AH gets very upset when you do

You can slam Healy's bias but I find Nicholas' veiled bias and subdued offended / manufactured enthusiasm when England fail worse.

He's cut from the same cloth as other faux neutrals like Tim Watson and KB in sports commentary.

Conversely Bumble and Vaughan were palatable because they openly professed bias, gave entertaining commentary and actually knew their subject.

I think that's a little harsh on Nicholas. Bumble and Vaughan can openly show their bias and make jokes about it because they are little more than guests on the team. Nicholas doesn't have that luxury.

The real shame is that never once seemed to rotate or rest Healy, Slats and Nicholas out of the commentary team. They seem to have done every single match. They've had a few ring-ins that have done an OK job. I think they need more rotations.

Yeah they use the younger commentators every game and only use Chappell,Richie [when he's fit] & Bill in Tests now.
In WA they drag out Tom Moody, but considering he tweeted the commentary stuff up [Morgan's run out] in game 2 he'll now be boned.

I really enjoyed Tom Moody, don't understand why he isn't given more of a run.

knows the rules too well - would likely clash with slats and nicko

My attempt at rating the commentators (in no particular order):

Michael Slater - 0/10 - An insufferable idiot who loves the sound of his voice too much. Tries to be funny way too much and just ends up humiliating himself. Won't stop laughing/giggling. Idiot. Add's nothing to the commentary at all, utter shite.

Mark Taylor - 6/10 - Tubby is okay. Pretty good analysis, but can get sidetracked if paired with Slater or Healy

Ian Healy - 1/10 - Moron, idiot, annoying.

Ian Chappell - 7/10 - As grumpy as ever, but seems to be getting better with age, or maybe just appears to be good because of the crap he's surrounded with.

Mark Nicholas - 6.5/10 - Suave Pom, doesn't always come across as the most knowledgeable about the game, but presents very well and sounds good.

Brett Lee - 4/10 - Just dull as dishwater. No real charisma. Not a very good analyst.

Michael Hussey - 7/10 - Nervous start, but has real potential. Excellent analyst, and got better as the series wore on.

Michael Vaughan - 7.5/10 - Funny without being an idiot, good cricketing mind, great when teamed up with Warney. They've got a pretty obvious bromance going, those two.

Shane Warne - 7.5/10 - Easily the best analyst and cricketing mind out of all the commentators. Can be a bit bombastic and can make a few blues, but generally a pleasure to listen to.

David "Bumbles" Lloyd - 8/10 - Great voice, very humourous without being an idiot, knows the game very well. Best of the commentators this year.

Bill Lawry - 10/10 - The last remaining Voice of Summer. Infectious enthusiasm and unmatched cricketing nous. Still unintentionally hilarious and still loveable. Not too many years left, so savour his words whilst you can.

James Brayshaw - 4/10 - Falls into the Slater/Healy camp of entertainer rather than commentator. Tries way too hard. Has his moments every now and then and whilst far better than the aforementioned Slater/Healy he's still below average.

Apologies if I've missed any.

He pops up everywhere. He did some BBL for Fox Sports over the last couple of years,Ten this year and cricket on Nine and on the odd occasion he pops up on overseas coverage.

One thing I have found annoying is that the commentators never shut the f*** up.

I was listening to cricket in the 80s on youtube and its peaceful until something happens. lol

But its so sad because they would rather we win a close game, then put a one sided affair. Being so lob sided this summer the commentators have had to come out with all sorts of garbage to keep the match interesting - according to them that is.

While I am at it, what the f*** was it with the trampoline at the T20, its so sad. Bradman rolls in his grave.

I would give Brayshaw a 2 or a 3. He is a joke and an embarassment.

Lawry definitely has class and has presented well over a marathon stint as a commentator. It is not because of the length of time, but he genuinely is brilliant in what he conveys to the audience.

The ones who have coached at a reasonable level can usually find useful and meaningful things to say. Jason Gillespie speaks very well on Sky Sports - he's coaching in Yorkshire and they love him up there. Main problem with Moody is that he is a MASSIVE Marsh bros fan, and we really don't need anymore of them.

I'm a big fan of Michael Vaughan, they have him on TMS over here. Bright guy and can take the piss out of himself and others without being a lout.

Slater is a lost cause, he seems to lower the standards of anyone he works with now.

Simple. The game uses every gimmick it can to create the illusion something is actually happening. See ..... you've forgotten the game already, but the memory of the trampoline lingers.

I dont watch BBL because T20 comp here is not as good as overseas where you get a bigger display of players from all over the world.

I watched us beat the Poms, not the trampoline.

If they bounce two marbles against each other every time the Hawks kicked a goal, you would remember that, but its not the reason you watched it or will continue to watch it.

I will say though, having hot cheerleaders would be one reason why I would watch the BBL lol.
