No questioning the professionalism and quality of the actual football coverage over the years, but the quality and professionalism of "Footy Classified" and the "AFL Footy Show" is simply a joke.

Although my love for footy has compelled me to watch both over the years with the age of the "Footy Show"'s panelist has become a level of programming compareable to that of Channel 31(for those who have it).

Footy Show:
---------------------------------------------------------------------

The cheap shots, plugs and constant fighting are quickly becoming a trademark of the show. The stretcher tape would be on a nonstop loop if Sam's 'in case of any dull moment' clause was actually in effect. The only laughs come through cheap shots, shane crawford/brendan fevola and crowd members yelling.

What crossed the line for me was the pathetic interviewing by the team when the newcomers came in. While Gibbs was asked adequate questions the rest were simply gossip questions and questions which needed little more than a yes/no answer. Jack Riewolt was ignored to tell you the truth.

Some heavy off season tuning is in order at seasons end!

Footy Classified:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Gary Lyon's 22nd show on channel 9. Hutchie is the only reason to watch the show, knows when to hold back, when to push forward and provides alot of informed questions and great information to the football community. Caroline Wilson can't write articles let alone speak, a perfect addition to the channel 9 team. Lovely to see her squirm when Carey was having a go at her, too bad Gary stepped in or the old bat might've had a heart attack.

What was particulary disappointing when Dean Laidely came in he was contantly belittled by the panel and was given little chance to gather a sentence.

A little fine tuning and a better timeslot can see this show shineeee.

Thoughts?

I agree with most.

I don't think Caro gave a toss over what Carey said to her. It was pretty heated garbage he was throwing and it made him look like an idiot. This is why Caro didn't care.

As for Laidley. Take about being shanghaied. It was like watching Kerry O'Brien tear strips off John Howard, which is often enough. Everyone was taking turns playing good cop, bad cop but I must say that Laidley did freeze. His answers were lacking and generally sounded rehearsed.

But then again, the whole Caro, Carey introduction seemed rehearsed.

Hutchison reminds me of a lawyer who enjoys getting the guilty guys off.

Dunno if they actually talked about footy or just had a go at each other.

the street talk cretins are finally starting to wear thin.
fevola has passed his use by date on that show, they need to keep the smarter footballers coming on that will say something intelligent e.g. buckley, hird, lloyd, darcy etc

footy classified, caro wasn't too bad. she didn't seem flustered when carey kept going, he looked like the peanut and hated it when he copped the pushback. laidley looked rehearsed but to his credit didn't get all defensive like a pagan would've. bit of guts to do what he did, not much from carey to do what he did, weakass ****.
hutchy looks like the kid in the playground who starts the fight then bolts off while theteachers come and give all the other kids detention. cheeky b.astard. he's good at getting the goss though. i'll watch again.
actually missed a bit of the footy show because the chaser was back on.

Hutchie is a spanner, theres just something about him i dont trust. I dare say he would have pictures of Eddie McGuire on his walls at home.

I enjoy both, Classified is a great idea which will take off - it has the heavy hitters, making it essential viewing.

As is TFS, on name alone.

They may have unearthed a diamond in the rough in Lachlan Hansen. :p

I've been saying it for a while. Time to wrap it up.

Yeh a show that started 3 nights ago you've been complaining about if for a while have you congratulations
lol:D

I enjoy the footy show, can be a little corny and lame at times (eg. CH7 steam camera), but still a good way to spend a Thursday night. Admittingly, I didn't watch all of Footy Classified, but the parts I did were good. Probably a tad much bickering but with the panel, at least you know they're not gonna hold any punches and will tell it as it is.

The street talk antics are wearing a bit thin, but so are most of Sam's antics. And to say Fevola has passed his used by date is simply stupid, Fevola and Crawf V Sammy is the highlight of the show. Still the other 2 should be intelligent footballers.

She squirmed like a worm. No comeback and if it wasn't for Gary stepping in she would've been toast. When he did she simply stood behind him and kept going at Carey. When Carey bought up Caro's forever taunting of Whitnal, Gary stepped in saying "Let's move on from that", Caro simply "Yeah yeah, we've moved on get over it".

Another point i'd like to make is Sam's Mailbag. Now it looks like the randomly pick letters to read out. What used to be a rather humorous segment of the show is now a waste of airtime. If you have something quality to send in to Sam, email to sams.mailbag@nine.com.au .

The Footy Show is not, and has never intended to be, a serious super-professional centrepiece of football. It's light entertainment with football related banter. That's it.

Their coverage of football was when the bs ended and the big show began. The commentators were entertaining but called the play well, the production values were slick, and even ordinary games were given a massive sense of occasion.

Sure, we dont (and didnt) always get footy live when we want it, but what we had at Nein was the best we've ever had it. Sam and Eddy have been telling us for 12 months that football would be rubbish under Seven and they were right. Even Vlad was visibly upset that Nien had lost the rights at that 11th hour bid by Seven, he knew that the standards would slip back to the early 90s but with widescreen and cleaner graphics.

A condition of the football rights contract should have been a performance based one, Seven left themselves with no money to actually telecast the games properly. Twats. They couldnt even afford Talking Footy or a Saturday arvo review show, that's just pathetic.

They won the rights just to deny Channel 9 them, and that's not on. They have no interest in AFL, just perpetuating the rediculous fued with GTV 9 which has been going on as longs as Collingwood/Carlton. I hope they remember it when they lose the rights in 2011 and nobody sheds a tear.

everyone knows the footy show is just a comedy show.

the only thing that peeves me off about is is sam is paid a fortune as a commentator of the game and serves it up to all clubs then when asked questions about it says he didn't see the game!

it seems he doesn't even watch games on the weekend but merely reads the articles about em on the monday!

I guess the lack of a quality AFL related show is really digging deep. The likes of "White Line Fever" and "Saturday Central" are dearly missed.

The Footy Show was never meant to be serious... so you can't blame it for lacking quality or professionalism. But I agree that Footy Classified is an absolute joke! It's almost like the 'Today Tonight' of footy world.

Which to me is "The Footy Show's" charm. A show where there can be a few cheap laughs at a clubs expense without any 'real' damage done. It has become a joke, to a point where jokes are taken too far and repetitive antics. Did this happen when Mr Ed left?
