Well I see after much arm twisting and pointing of fingers at wording in contracts Channel Seven have finally agreed to televise the Richmond Kangaroos game live into Melbourne on Saturday night.

However the rest of us are stuck with the Bum-sniffers and later on Melbourne too will be subjected to this most boring of spectacles.

What the freakking hell is going on here ? Channel Seven are determined to make Melbourne audiences watch Rugby Union whether they want to or not. I wouldn't mind so much except that when the boot is on the other foot, Aussie Rules fans in NSW and Qld STILL have to wait up to after midnight to watch their code on TV.

Channel Seven - you stink, absolutely smell to high heaven.

Why is the AFL even considering giving this bunch of Rugby fans the Tv rights yet again ?

Channel Seven are doing a shit job at televising the game in the Northern States - they have been doing a shit job for years now but do the AFL do anything about it ? NO

Now Channel Seven are doing a shit job of televising the game in the Southern states as well - Almost unbelievably they are of the opinion that Rugby Union is a better bet than Aussie Rules in this market.

To Channel Seven - if you think that Rugby is better than Aussie Rules - fine - take your chosen Code and go shove it up your arse (What Rugby looks like anyway)

To the AFL - why do you want your game shown on a TV network that thinks another code is better than yours ?

The silly thing is that AFL is Channel Sevens lifeblood - don't they realise that ?

I agree BA

Channel 7's stance is pretty bizarre considering that the only ratings they get come from AFL games and they pay a fairly hefty sum for them as well.

Getting towards the soccer deal that 7 did a few years ago - buying the rights to broadcast Australian international games - and then not showing them!!

Weird!!!

I say split the rights next time round and let the networks try to outdo each other during the broadcasts - not just on how much money they have to spend to pay for the rights in the first place!

My 2 cents

Even Better Sell The Rights to Each Game Individualy on conditions that they must be shown - Live If possible - nad any that dont sell Give to the ABC - Over Here In perth & Are So Bad they have To HIRE about 4 cameras and camera men from 9 Just to telecast the games from Subi And the WACA

Our match against the eagles was not scheduled to begin on channel 7 until 12:05am Saturday night. As a result I intentionally made sure that I did not listen to the scores so that I could watch the match uninterrupted.

However, the game did not start until 12:30am and then was off air at 1am so Channel 7 could screen a 1950s movie.

Now I realise that this turned out to be a blessing in disguise because of our woeful performance but I think it further questions channel 7's priorites.

I know this a personal gripe but it frustrates the hell out of me.

And I think the AFL have to take some responsibility too. Let's hope that next years fixture is a lot more receptive to the needs of all football supporters, both television viewers and importantly the crowds who should be the lifeblood of the competition.
