Is it just me or has the volume on Channel Ten gone way down in recent weeks? If I swap from Fox 8 or something I've got to just about double the volume to be able to hear it.

Hmm, something dodgy going on somewhere. At least to my paranoid way of thinking. :(

nothing going on. Just Channel 10 have their broadcast volume a lil higher than the other stations.

Most increase the broadcast volume of their ads when compared to normal programming to make the ads blast your brain further.

They are not meant to do this and recieve token warnings from the ACCC every now and then, but the same thing continues.

I think there was somehting in the news this past week about some new legislation to prevent ads from having a higher volume than the programmes they are played during. ****s me no end when they are louder than something I actually want to watch.

Yeah it has come out a few times. The other one that comes out is the ACCC saying that after a lot of researching they found the ads are no louder than the normal broadcast.

Same here, Foxtel digital cable...ten is louder. I find ABC, in particular the Bill to be low volume. In fact, it seems to fade in and out throughout the show. :(

Mog,
I have noticed the same thing - it doesn't hapen all the time but its regular enough to start becoming annoying.

Yeah the ads aren't louder, but its something like a higher frequency or something. Bloody annoying. I think the SBS ratings go up a bit when the ads come on the other channels.

Different compression on the broadcast for ads I suppose.

I don't know about that, but in the last day, all the channels I don't watch on Fox, the picture quality has eroded badly, is it because of lack of use?

End result is the same; I'm ****ed off and don't want to watch stuff on Ten as a result.

Of course, I don't have a rating meter, so I can go get ****ed...

when SBS aired episodes of south park they would always be a few volume points lower than thier other programs and advertisements. just in case channel surfers came past to hear something offensive.
