Big fan of both players. Both are high potential CHBs - hard to split.
Last year when fit and in-form Bock looked absolutely terrific both defensively and on transition, rebounding strongly from halfback. Has surprisingly good foot skills and a large fitness base. The back injury suffered in the offseason has set him back though and hopefully he can quickly come good and show that potential again.
Chaplin is similar. Very good defensively and not afraid to use the ball when it's in his hands either. Has been a mainstay in the Port defence since finally being reinstated by Choco just prior to finals last year - after inexplicably being dropped after a top notch performance on Nathan Thompson in Round 7.
Too close to call at this point, although given Chaplin is almost a good 3 years younger you could give him the chocolates on 'upside'.
Bock is exactly where'd you'd expect him to be at this point. AA CHB material at 25.
Chaplin is still looking the goods at age 22. Did a terrific job against Riewoldt a couple of weeks ago (umpires notwithstanding) and as he showed with his long bomb against the Dons, can also get forward and use the ball well. I would love to see Chocolate keep giving him these blue-ribbon assignments rather than waste him on small/med forwards in an attempt to exploit a mismatch.
Bock is clearly ahead at this point, but given the age difference you'd expect nothing less.
Would be very very nice to have them both.
