Franklins was worse. Much later after the kick and more force, the fact Syd needed scans to check there was no damage played against Franklin, so if that was 2 down to 1 (which was fair), Chappy should be 1 down to 0. Freeze framing it at the point of bumps isn't the entire story so it can't be judged by that alone in comparison.
Chappy has no carry over points or bad record, there's going to be nothing to answer for from Ports medical report and it's a knock-out final so should be free to play if there's any common sense left in the MRP (which is the biggest doubt).

I think most people would of been disappointed if Franklin got more than 1 week causing that bump to potentially end his season (and been the last time wearing a Hawks top) so same should apply to Chappy since it's a knock-out final now. No damage done, free kick paid, play on.

A bump like that would have been part of the highlight package to sell the game 24 months ago, now it's a season ender in a Prelim? What a degradation of the sport if that's the case. Let him play for the sake of the game.

What response did you expect from dropping in the fact that you've played a lot of ammos in a response about the workings in the AFL? Every player who cops a bump to the head in the AFL gets inspected. On the field, on the sidelines, or in the change rooms after. Do you seriously think a medical staff would leave themselves open to action with the defence of "Well, he got hit in the head but he said it was okay so we didn't really bother after that"?

The game suffers a lot more by Franklin missing a final, so I don't think that's arguable.

Chappy is a selfish, angry man who's let down his teammates when they needed him most.

Whether the game is worse off as a whole with the bump effectively outlawed is irrelevant, Chappy knew the likely price and carried through with the bump. Should get a week minimum.

You're kidding right, Gray is the biggest sook I've ever seen. Chapmans hit was beautiful, there was no high contact, got him flush in the chest, Gray dropped like a girl and held his head.

Also took a pathetic dive when hunt was tackling him, threw his legs back, arms out, even headbutting hunt in the face and allowing him to just get crunched in the back, that should have been play on. Disappointed in Gray last night, does he always dive like that?

I was about to let fly here but I'm pretty sure you're being sarcastic.

He got him flush in the face. It's absolutely undeniable. Chapman's only saving grace will be if the MRP deems the contact not to be forceful enough to be worth a charge.

Otherwise it'll be 2 down to 1.

Wasn't being sarcastic about Gray, he really hammed everything up last night, I usually like watching him play but was disappointed seeing the acting.
Never saw those photos, they look a lot different to the slow motion replays imo, the replays show a hit high on the chest, although his head may have whipped into his arm.

I honestly loved the hit, thought it was great.

Actually, Chappy is neither selfish, nor angry-he is very calm and contented these days. Hope he plays but I am not cross about it. Get over it .

It will definitely be negligent. It will definitely be high contact. The question here is is low impact or medium. Buddy got medium impact which meant a week. Finals rules (and COLA) might save Chapman.

For anyone that says the bump was as disposal happened, well that's what tackling is for. When a bloke has the footy you tackle them, not leap off the ground and shoulder their jaw. It's pretty much that simple.

The jumping is what may have him in danger of getting reckless especially when the MRP Chairman specifically said that the reason Buddy's was Negilgent and not Reckless was (or more to the point, one of the reasons) he didn't jump off the ground.

Bump was clearly in play only a fool would argue otherwise. Unlike Franklin who bumped well after the kick Chapman's bump had the required result. If Chapman goes it will show the bias that has been against the Geelong side all year.
