Yes, but how is it different to Buddy's other than Chapman leaving the ground? Malceski wasn't injured either. After seeing the side-by-side shot confirming head high contact, looks like a certain suspension.
The big difference between buddy and chapman is the the force in the bump. On the upside for chappy their was no force, yes he gets him high but he jumps up and not into the player if that makes sense. On the downside compared to buddy both his feet leave the ground. Scott today said chappy should get off with a reprimand so ill go with that point of view. Hahah
Can't wait for the game this week. Nothing better than Geelong vs hawks games. Hopefully chappy, enright and rioli are all on the park for it.

This is one of the most illogical posts I've seen.

So two people could do the exact same action with the exact same force on two different players, but one could get suspended because the player he bumped had a higher propensity to get injured?

The actions should be judged on the act themselves, not on the resulting damage if there is to be any consistency.

And how the hell did Sydney cheat in this? Did they make Franklin bump Malceski high? Please.

I think you may have missed my point. Currently a medical report holds weight despite the player continuing to play. It shouldn't.

Of course you have to take into account the consequence. Your post is a joke

Really a free kick is all it was worth. However the recidivist simulator in Gray throwing his head back made it look worse so the MRP will look at it.

Low impact and a bit negligent... early plea... no weeks... all good.

Chappy licking his lips to inflict some more pain on the Hawks this Friday night. :thumbsu:
Is Gray the same player that threw his head back into Josh Hunt's face, then lay down and waited to be fallen on?

No head contact. Nothing to see

Made head contact. Plenty to see.

How was Buddy's classified as negligent if Chappy's was reckless?

Franklin had feet on the ground, and crouched for impact. (Total force of impact was probably less than Chapman). Malceski was much lower than normal and directly contributed to the contact being high.

Chapman left the ground, and jumped up and through the impact. Leaving the ground means Chapman could reasonably expect incidental high contact in the bump - therefore reckless.

I'm not sure how people trying to simultaneously argue that Franklin deserved weeks yet Chaman didn't can look themselves in the mirror. I think they're very similar bumps. Whilst I concede Buddy probably had more time to pull out of the bump he also has less grounds to expect that his hip and shoulder would generate high contact as Malceski was in an unusually crouched position. Chapman whilst slightly less late jumped into Grey recklessly leaving the ground in the process. The actually impact with both of them was started on the shoulder/arm then followed through right into the head. It's very hard to imagine him getting any less than 2 weeks down to 1.

If he gets off the Cats fans will have to re-assess their view on Hawthorn's protected MRP/Umpire species standing when you also factor in the great umpiring they've received this finals series.

Hawks fan here, has nothing to with me hating chappy or the cats but he deserves two weeks.
He couldve broken the mans jaw.
Left the ground high impact intentional and late= 5 weeks.
:D

This thread reeks with the smell of Hawthorn fans' fear... a mix of sweat, halitosis and a small amount of urine.

A fair assessment is that Chapman's wasn't as forceful as Franklin, the incidents were very similar, and while the rules are as terrible as they are, Chappy will probably get a week.

The rules need to be changed. These incidents resulting in suspensions will kill the bump.

I will be furious if the AFL somehow lets Richards off and does Chappy, however.

This used to be legal, and still should be FFS:

nothing in it- gray threw his head back- basically no impact from chappy- a free kick and that is all.
hawks flogs scared!!!! hilarious

What's going to bite him is that he had an option not to bump but did anyway. You could see that before the bump, he had both arms raised and almost jumped to smother, then he changed actions and launched himself towards Gray to bump. Then to make it worse, he jumps off the ground! It has to be graded reckless.

Shoulder made contact to the head, clearly. Only way I can see him playing this week is if it's deemed to be insufficient force. The fact that Gray was on the ground holding his jaw ala Goddard after the Kelly bump does not bode well.
