I was having this debate with a friend. Who do you think is the better player? Its VERY close but I'd have to go with Chapman due to his goal kicking ability and that he is the ultimate big game player.

Thoughts?

Gaz is the only one who could shade a fit Chapman.

....Even that would be a close run thing.

He is machine like; the football equivalent of the terminator. Utterly damaging.

Chapman leaves everything on the field. If the Cats are struggling to get over the line, he'll do whatever it takes to try and get them there. There is a lot of Chapman in Selwood - he shows this 'win or die trying' attitude more often than not. I think Chapman has been a great role model, but I also believe this attitude is innate in Selwood. Either way, we'll be in good hands in this respect when Chapman decides to hang up his boots.

To say Chappy is a better player is not to downplay Joel's ability. In fact the comparison is a compliment.
Well said. Chappy is a gun and in the top 10 players in the leauge.
Selwood is a very, very good player .but Chappy is all class and skill and tough. he gets my vote!

I think this a bit like comparing chalk with cheese.

Chappy is in career best form and has to be an outsider for the Charlie at this point of time. But, I'd rather go with Selwood because (a) he is younger (b) equally a big game performer, and (c) less injury prone.

Chapman at this stage. Never goes missing in the big games, although neither does Selwood haha. Chapman is very underated though, I would have him comfortably inside the top 20 players in the AFL.

Chappy can and does WIN games......Selwood sets people like Chappy up, but so does Chappy.

The time will come when Selwood is able to win us games off his own boot, but until he starts doing that on a regular basis Chappy is bald head and shoulders above him. That's not to say that Joel hasn't stepped up when it really mattered on plenty of occasions, but Chappy on one leg Vs Adelaide last year f'rinstance...Magic.

I know Selwood spends more time as a genuine midfielder but I'd love to see him slotting it through the big sticks a bit more often.

Chapman for me.

He's the one I'm really nervous about tonight more than any other. Could well tear us apart.
