Can't be far away from becoming a permanent forward. Helped turn that game yesterday in the 3rd quarter when forward. With the young guys needing and getting more midfield time, i would prefer him spending at least 80% of the game up forward.

Also would be happy for him to get another year if he keeps his body right, on the proviso that he plays permanent forward.

Agreed.
I can understand why they play him in the middle but I think once we get SJ back and Kelly gets a few more games (although lets be honest he only needs 1) we will see him play more forward and Caddy go more into the middle.

like your team and the only change would be. Bartel starting for Leo turner and maybe dasher in the backline (absolute champion player).

superb team

ah thank you - I reckon both the Turner's spots would be a tad vulnerable in that side, but both excellent players.

agree that Dasher most definitely deserves consideration for a spot in any all-time best Geelong side, he's played the 3rd most games for Geelong (292), and I reckon he was stiff to 'only' garner one AA selection throughout his career.
he would have to be one of the best one-on-one players i've ever seen in the hoops.
i swear the umpires absolutely hated him.

Right.
We had AMAZING players throughout our history, shame that some werent as successful as they should have been...
How would guys like Hocking, Hinkley, Brownless, Stoneham etc etc etc be judged now if that had snared a flag or 2....

makes a big difference to a players reputation doesn't it ?

Yeah I feel it does.
Obviously not from us, we all know hes an all time great, but I reckon the wider AFL community doesnt rate them quite as high as they should if they dont win that flag.
I could be wrong of course, its just how I see it.

picked up a tonne of possessions and was superb in a contest on the ground, would routinely beat his man then link up with scarlett in defense and attack out of it. DE% always solid, has a record for most touches in a 1/4 (19 i think against bulldogs 2009?). Just a mean old salty dog.

back to Chappy, 2 more years, AFL champion

Reading you guys talk about Dasher just makes me remember how much I miss watching him play for all those years. IMO he was very stiff to miss out in 2011 (although I understand the decision had to be made) and if I remember right, he didn't really show many signs of loss of form. Maybe if he had played in that GF he would have continued playing? Hell he may have even still been playing this weekend.

On Chappy, definately if his hamstrings hold strong (touch wood) he is still major asset to the team. 2 strong performances against some very good opposition! He looks primed for another good year.

this guy.

never seen a player as hard as buddha. he dealt out punishment like no other midfielder in his day, opposition players genuinely feared buddha.
4AA 4 BFs 4 time top 3 brownlow. Hird, Buckley et al aint in this guys league period.

Hocking was a great player but undersold himself occasionally by trying to prove he could "dish out punishment". He seemed to be over aroused (to use sports science speak) when finals rolled around. His obvious football skills were lost to us when they were most needed.

Max Rooke was the opposite. Limited skills but unswerving focus on the footy. If some body work was required it was duly and carefully and effectively applied.

Not always easy to get it right, but it's easy to make judgements in hindsight. Budda was a great!
