pretty sure tenace is contracted for next year. do clubs delist players while contracted?? does anyone know who's uncontracted besides pris and lonergan?

Thats true but there is always options
contracted players can also be traded (given away) for a throw away draft pick if they agree (usually they don't mind if they aren't getting a game)

Well done Chappy.

I would suggest that Number 28 would not be home and hosed as a Geelong player next year either. He is getting a bit long in the fang and he plays in the magoos. They maybe better off promoting someone like Laidler to the senior list.

And are you surprised that none of them have shown their face on this thread?

Poor form.

Relax fellas... It's not sacrilegious to have hypothesised that Chappy might leave. It's mostly idle speculation and amusement, with respect to trading and the draft etc.

Some fans really are fanatical.

BTW. TheTimeCometh summed it up well... Chappy dives too much:thumbsu:

Pickers just said on Fox that it is for 4 years.

Might want to take what 'Pickers' says with a grain of salt - IIRC he classed Shannon Byrnes as a "B" Grade midfielder.

But it is great news that Chapman has put pen to paper...like there was a doubt ;)

Is he his manager? The club are not saying a word. Balme refused to confirm that he had even signed on SEN this morning. In particular no one is talking about the duration.

Something a tad funny going on here... I'm sure its nothing too diabolical, but it is odd.

Pickering is Chappy's manager. He said the 4 year deal was not a 'big secret' but I don't think they are revealing $$

Can't believe he put Byrnes as B grade midfielder, though!! Devalued everything else he said last night

There is a difference between suggesting he 'might leave', and flat out questioning his loyalty, which is what a number of posters did.

Paul Chapman had plenty of credit in the bank when it comes to loyalty, so i don't believe he deserved to have his loyalty questioned without basis.

And the fact that those who did it still haven't come to the thread speaks volumes.

OK, the issue is that someone else has asked for four years and been knocked back by the club and ultimately settled for three.

Pickering of course will be happy to talk it up since it reflects well on him: he's talked the club into giving him what is in the best interests of his client. The club will not be happy to talk about it since it's probably not all the best for team chemistry to be picking favorites.

Four years is a long time, but if we win this year and have a decent crack at next year's, he can have the last three off as far as I'm concerned.

There's gotta be a Gold Coast factor in this too....

Someone rang SEN yesterday to say that the reason he was thinking of leaving the Cats was to return to Melbourne (the city, I presume, rather than the club). Personally it sounds like the usual excuse for Vic players who have moved interestate to talk up their price at contract time.

To stay viable in a couple of years we'll have to trade some players to the Gold Coast (and presumably west Sydney). There will be a couple of guys who will no doubt put their hands up to go up there to supplement their super before they retire. I wouldn't especially be surprised if Chappie was one of them and if he does, good luck to him. For the next couple of years, though, he's ours, and thank God for that.

B for bloody ordinary perhaps? :D

Agreed. Some of the comments and speculation on here (of all places) was pathetic and shameful. He was never going anywhere.
