🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

have heard reports that he is OK. precautionary. he has back related hamstring problems, he hasnt torn it, just felt some tingling. bomber overuled the medicos and told him to stay off. its obviously a week to week thing with him though. but, yeah, i've heard he'll play. as will kelly, johnson and ottens.

...and Harley??? That's a crap load of underdone players!!!
Mind you the result is meaningless so why not?

well, harley has missed a bit, as has kelly and johnson. chapman has only missed two and a half, and ottens has just rucked for 85% of a (VFL) match. and we are playing freo. they'll be fine, its a great chance to get some run and confidence into them all before week one.

Is that a post-scan report? Because that's the line they have been using since Friday night.

Larkins said the same on Sunday footy show. Monday scan to give the injury (if any) more time to settle and hence show more after scanning. Fingers crossed it is nothing and they did just keep him off as a precaution. Even if cleared, surely he should get the week off, I really didnt see why he played against the dogs given the result had no bearing on our position.

Gonna be a tough hit out for Ottens against the biggest man in the game.

At this stage of the season they'd probably send someone in for a scan if they sneezed violently.

At least we'll know if he can jump!

He HAS to ruck. I'm not so keen on this idea of him spending the bulk of the time @ FF. We've only just got Mooney and Hawkins playing some good footy together, and with some degree of synergy. As good as Ottens is, I'm not sure I want him messing that up.

Plus, 3 talls in the FL:confused:

Apparently no mention of Chappy's scan on 'On The Couch'.

Should we read anything into that? Probably not. Don't want to be jumping at shadows.

.......Although, if it was all good, you'd think they'd be happy to trumpet the news.

BOO!!

BOO!!

Geelong's injury concerns are old news. The media never gets an accurate story anyway.

Just saw this on afl website.

Afl.com.au said:
Ottens a certainty, Chapman likely to miss
BRAD Ottens is a guaranteed selection for the Geelong AFL side this weekend, but there are a few others who may or may not get up for the last game of the regular season.
The Cats have been injury plagued this year, and while the inclusion of Ottens, skipper Tom Harley and probably Steve Johnson is a good sign, goal-kicking forward/midfielder Paul Chapman is likely to miss.
Midfielder James Kelly, who has missed eight weeks of football, is also expected to return, although the Cats match committee hasn't decided whether to bring him straight back into the AFL or have him spend a week in the VFL.
Thompson said Ottens had earned his spot in the senior team after a month in the VFL.
More to follow.

doesn't give an actual reason i am assuming his hamstring still. suppose we will have to wait until thursday/ saturday until we actually know who is on the team.

I read somewhere, (can't remember where now) that Chappy's hamstring had 'very minimal' damage or something like that, but he was most likely going to sit out this week anyway...

Not sure if that's good or bad, but I'm hoping it means he'll be right come finals time

EDIT: I found the link

Thompson said the Cats were yet to make a decision on Chapman, although scans showed very little damage.

Would not be happy if Chapman missed this week. Would rather see him play just over a half and get some real match fitness into him.

So in other words, he's just soft. :o On a more serious note, last year part of the reason we got rolled when it mattered was because come the grand final, it wasn't a matter of 'should Chapman come back'... Rather it was 'Who is going to make room for Chapman?' I hope they sort their shit out a bit better this year. That said, we look an ordinary unit without him.
