Howe not being there unfortunately exposes Moore's weakness. Moore is no good one on one and Freo had a deliberate plan today to exploit that kink in our backline. We have a bigger problem next year as Howe probably has one more year in him and unfortunately Reef will be coming off an ACL.

We need to draft or recruit a key back and another mid bull. Dean isn't the answer and Moore I feel has lost a yard or two.

Moore was horrendous today by the way. Anyone blaming Dean for Moore’s game has rocks in their heads. The man is AA quality and if he needs to adjust his game when new guys come in he should. Can’t expect Dean to be Howe

I thought Chaz was a little slow and reactive in the first half but he redeemed himself int he second half. He is another that would benefit from consecutive games and nuturing from that opportunity. It is fair to say however, that he is well down the pecking order when it comes to defenders at the Pies.

Dean’s best role is as a intercepting defender but he can’t play that at AFL level because he’s a tad too slow, a tad too weak, a tad too fumbly, and a tad too panicky. As a shutdown defender he loses his man and goes to ground too often. He doesn’t seem to “work” in our system as he doesn’t fill holes or come over the top to help his teammates.

Same problem as MaCrae unfortunately. Stuck in the no-man’s land of being too good for VFL and not good enough for AFL. He's our last option and will be off the list sooner rather than later.

This is my view. Whether its due to confidence, physical attributes or he just doesnt understand the system he just doesn't work back there

Guys, we had no alternative to Dean, why can't people understand that.

People should be congratulating Dean and being proud of him because he was asked to do a job that is probably beyond his capability right now (and possibly ever), and he manfully accepted the challenge to try to help the team and actually wasn't too bad.

People thinking Dean had disproportionate responsibility for the loss are again ignoring that our forward line was horrendous. And frankly, Mihocek's free against late in the last to Cox when all he had to do was nullify and force a stoppage was unforgivable.

In a game where the team had 19 inside 50s for 1 goal in the 3rd quarter, we're complaining about "Dean going to ground".

I’d love to know the selection committees thoughts on Dean. We’ve known he’s too small to be an AFL kpd for years and they just keep putting him there and he keeps struggling. Bizarre.

The Dean curse continues. We haven't beaten a top 8 team when he plays and the sample size is now 12 games.

He is the worst player I have seen in a Collingwood jumper for quite some time. I think his teammates have zero confidence in him and are trying to have to play their opponent AND trying to cover for Dean. As a result, they are often caught in bad positions.
