Nah JJ played in an era at Adelaide when goals were kicked for shits n giggles while Dixon’s battled solo in our wasteland of a forward line over the same journey

For mine put Dixon in the Crows forward line instead of JJ in that era and he would’ve been way more productive

the adelaide media love to talk the bloke up but looking at his career.. he’s little more than a Josh Jenkins that angrily crashes a pack every now and then.. they’ve now played the exact same amount of games..

Josh has kicked about 60 more goals than him over the journey though.. and charlie‘s temper sees him give away a lot of stupid frees..

There is not a single defender in the AFL Charlie cannot beat 1 on 1. His problem is we keep bombing it on his head while he’s competing against 2-3 defenders and even then he still brings the ball to ground 9-10

I recon they guy that has taken the most contested marks in the game can handle big key defenders. Especially impressive as he is double/triple teamed at every contest and always has his arms chopped & held onto.

Yes, because we kept bombing the ball on his head in 2 or 3 on 1's.

Don't take this comment as an attack on Andrews, he's the best defender in the league bar none IMO. But nobody is stopping a 200cm 106kg contested marking brute like Dixon if the delivery to him is right (which it absolutely wasn't when we played Brisbane).

Firstly haven’t won a final yet (6 seasons this season since we saluted) or even made the top four this season so still unequivocally remain underachievers

As for Dixon if you watched Port games more often than the showdowns or prime time games we generally lose delivery to Dixon sucks ass it’s either him vs 2/3, not in space because it’s taken an age to get there and less commonly he drops the mark

So regardless of if you type in caps or not what he’s delivered isn’t a reflection on the quality of the player and in a better structure (like yours was) would be a producing more without doubt

it’s a main reason why people on our board want Marshall back ASAP because of the space he creates for Dixon that Westhoff never has and Georgiades hasn’t learnt how to

I'd say he's mostly over (or can be managed through) the injury problems that plagued him at the Suns (playing less and less in the ruck definitely helps). He's turned into the most prolific contested marker in the game, so which "gorilla key defenders" can't he handle?

I'd say at this point, it's a question of whether he can sustain consistently good output, and how long he can keep his head in the game and his body fit, at 30 years old. Whoever gives him a contract longer than 2 years will basically be betting on him ageing very gracefully as a key forward. His style of play goes against the grain of what's in vogue in footy at the moment too, so you'd be hoping the game doesn't pass him by over the next few years in that way, too.

At the end of the day.. they are both tall forwards, same height and around the same weight.. both now played the exact same number of games.

different players, yes, but ultimately tall forwards all the same.. and what is it you want tall forwards doing?

and if they arent kicking goals you want them assisting/getting involved in their team mates kicking goals.

pretty simple really.

Jenkins beats him on both measures.

and everyone likes to pot Jenkins for all his “easy” “joe the goose” goals.. totally ignoring the unbelievable gut running that enabled him to be in position for those goals..

all that being said... i’m still glad JJ is no longer a Crow.. his career has pretty much reached the end.

he’ll stay at port on a two year deal... and, if his body holds up, on one year extensions following that 2 years... until he retires.. be risky anyone, even port, offering him 4...
