Rumour Charters paid $1,000,000.00 by Bombers to backflip

2 crazy things in all of this.

1. OP correctly called this 4 years ago.

2. The official story of Gatto's involvement was broken by Sam Newman (before Tony Sheahan poached it) .

This thread needs to be changed from Rumour to Nostradamus Lives

Btw Elliott dad was caught on tape talking to Campbell. Appeal doesn't look too promising.

One thing to 'believe' what you're saying, another to prove it. Certainly didn't prove anything to Workcover by the look of it.
Workcover denying the claim doesn't mean they believe none of it happened, it just means they don't think they deserve tax payer funded compensation for the stress it caused.

No Tanner said Essendon never approached Gatto and later said Gatto had approached Essendon. Do you think any people with "criminal connections" have ever called Eagles? Laughable really

Here's the quote from Tanner:

"For example, allegations of having dealings with Mick Gatto are false"

That is a 100% absolute mistruth.

Your lack of verification is just as bad. Laughable really.

Notice the very careful use of words. 'allegations of having dealings'

Did not confirm nor deny who approached who, does not confirm nor deny 3rd parties having dealings with Gatto. etc etc

Only it wasn't a third party and he's now backtracked and changed his (Essendon's) story.

Then the EFC and Tanner can sue Gatto for making false statements then.

Why? Those statements were not harmful.

Why would people want to denigrate Essendon for the sake of it? What benefit does Gatto have to simply make something up? Could he really be bothered blackmailing a massive football club, which seems to be your implication? There is almost zero reason as to anyone, let alone him, to just make this up for the sake of it... especially two years after it all went down. Or three years.

People on the Freo board refuse to believe maybe Ross Lyon is a s**t coach or Matt Taberner is timid and not a footballer's a-hole. And I thought that was some Kool-Aid drinking. Man, unbelievable. Seriously incredible.

Why don't Essendon show proof of what they injected man? Or that they didn't?

Gatto likes being in the news and sounds better for him to say "they approached me". I also did not imply Gatto blackmailed. I said it's been reported that Essendon have reported Wallis and Elliott to police for possible blackmail threats.

can you explain the 1 million+ payout for the Weapon, with of course a silence clause?

Don't know. Rumoured the AFL had something to do with. He did get a plum job with AFL's auditors.

Key word here...'dealings' which would imply both parties negotiating in some way. Gatto approaching Essendon to ask if he can help and then being politely declined is not 'dealings'. Laughable to think otherwise.

Essendon made it clear that Gatto approached them.

Isnt he alleging Essendon cosnorts with criminals?

Careful GreyCrow, the big fella doesn't consider himself a 'criminal'. BTW didn't he poke his nose into another high profile case, offering his services to mediate? Just cn't remember the case.

True. Apologies Mick. You are a 'colourful identity'

Hmm wasn't that a Union issue? I know he was kicked out the Bank of Queensland offices

Gattos story could well be the truth

BUT

This is Mick Gatto. Plenty of shady reasons that might mean he would want to drag Essendon down. Maybe Shane Charters or Dank or someone wants a payout? They feel hard done by (because they thought they'd be smart enough to get away with it) and want a dollar, or Essendon threw them under the bus and they want to get back at them?

He offered his 'services' to Boral in their dispute with CFMEU. Offered $100k and that would rise by $100k a week if they didn't take it up straight away. Boral politely (they all do it politely) said no thank you Mr Gatto.

But nah he offered his services in a celebrity case.

Anyway a few footballers have been seen in his company.

Was a case that involved the CFMEU.

Honestly nothing would surprise me here with what happened during the whole saga.

Remember Essendon went to court plenty of times and lost every time. With the payout to Robinson (The Weapon).of approximately $1.6m ($1.2m compo + all legal costs), it happened quickly after he made it clear he was going to call Hird, Bomber, Little & Evans to the stand to testify under oath about what happened, something Essendon didn't want.

Robinson subpoenaed 17-18 people and James Hird was not one of them. He did subpoena Tania Hird to explain about her interview with 7.30 Report and how she explained how Demetriou has pre warned Essendon.

He also subpoenaed Gil and asked him to produce Integrity units report and of course subpoenaed Demetriou to explain if he had spoken to any Essendon officials between Jan and March 2013. Two months later a settlement was reached. Two months after Robinson said he was willing to testify at anti doping tribunal on players behalf.

A few months after that he started his job at KPMG, the AFL's auditors. Funny that.

How is that funny?
KPMG is a big place, they are a lot of people's auditors. He was in some sort of agricultural role there. If he got a job at Officeworks you would be sus because the AFL buys the paper to print their annual report there.

How does cheating qualify you for a job as an Auditor?

Oh wait, it's the AFL.

Carry on.

Charter's backflip at the time was bizarre and now makes sense. Explains why he fought so hard to avoid appearing at the tribunal.

What's the bet a coterie member dipped into their pockets and 'bought a lifetime supply of vitamin b'.

I almost admire Essendon's willingness to take every risk they possibly could in trying to avoid any sanction whatsoever. To think at one point Little said they'd happily wear their penalty... as long as it didn't involve draft picks, finals or a significant financial hit ffs.
