Anyone going near Big Boy McEvoy next year?

Price will be ok and he will have most of the ruck to himself at the Hawks.

Not that great at winning lots of hitouts but makes up for it with covering the ground, intercept marks, etc.

Not a bad option if you don't want to pay premium price for a ruck I reckon.

I disagree with what you said Toxic but that's what makes this place so great.

I've heard that either Roughhead or Hale will become a permanent forward next year with only one of them playing the relief ruck role so McEvoy should still get 90% of ruck time I reckon.

Not saying that I am going to pick McEvoy myself, just putting him out there as a ruck option.

I can see him averaging at least 103 next season.

I'd want my ruck averaging as much as he can.

I guess its how much you pay initially for your ruck too.

If McEvoy averages 103 for next year for what you paid for him at the start would you take that as a win?

Since we are both thinking about going with cheap as chips backlines does that mean you wouldn't mind spending big on 2 full price premium rucks such as Goldstein and Minson?

I'm thinking about it strongly as that would be set and forget.

On the other hand if NicNat loses his DPP and is only a ruck then I'd think about playing him as my R2 with Goldstein.

same as Stefan martin did (sweet FA) Looney is simply miles ahead of them.

Reckon West is picked as insurance and back up to J.Brown

Yeah Goldstein and Minson will be expensive but if you go cheap in the backs and don't spend heaps up forward then I think you could still have a kick ar5e midfield and 2 premium full priced rucks.

Agree will be weird not picking Cox. I've had the big fella every single year in my team.

I see it the other way around and reckon Martin is insurance for Brown and West insurance for Burger.

West is a ruck afterall although I guess he isn't the worst going around pinch hitting up forward.

my biggest issue is what to do with the rucks this season? really no idea what the new interchange rules will do to ruckmens scoring potentials.
Minson and Goldy will both be premium priced.
Nicnat the best value of the premiums by far but everyone will have him. (not sure i will at this stage)

Longer & Hickey, subject to price, will have to be considered for R2,

Only issue will be if they are played as a 2 man show, or not,

We'll get a better idea from NAB cup games, what Saints are trying to do with these 2,

just dont see either of them as high scoring options this season... reckon there are 20 rucks who will average more than them (but they are both damm good moves by the saints)

Was thinking more as a mid range picks with potential for upside & improvement due to increased game time (->cash generation), before up-trading for your '14 version of Minno or Goldy,

could work, guess its about cash and where you spend it to generate points.

Is the formerly great Zorko on anyones watch lists for 2014, after his amazing year in 2012, fell back last year. Though Like his Job security and DPP role, if he could lift his point scoring a bit would be pretty happy to have in my F6 position.

Waters is a good price but you need to watch his pre season.

If he has a good pre season then lock him in I reckon.

Every man and his dog will have NicNat. Again though he has to have a decent pre season.

Can't believe I was dumb enough to fall for the Burger > NicNat trade this year when Burger hurt his thumb. NicNat had no pre season FFS.

Yeah i will prob go waters over hurn if he has soild preseason and if hes price is right.How many games did nick graham play 2 hes still rookie price prob better rookie mids though.

We'll more than likely play both Leuenberger and West. The club has said Leppa's game plan involves two ruckman. And given Martin was injured a bit last year and showed minimal in the games he played it is likely West will be in the senior side.

Martin and West have been picked up due to lack of ruckman and lack of genuine forward/ruck players.
