Couldn't you just use a random address from the U.S?

That seems to be the way people from Whirlpool are doing it.

I found it tends to reject some Aus-based credit cards when you do that, but it works for some.

yeah this is how I do it.

I use my normal Amazon account (with my real details) which I've used for years with physical items (books, dvds etc), and just added another real US address (a hotel in a state with no tax), set it as my default address (might not need this step), and it works no worries for me. I've had trouble with other stores (US PSN, UK PSN, GetGames for example) when trying to use a US or UK address and the same card (ANZ), but Amazon works for me.

Picked up Battlefield 3 (PS3) for $39 at EB (they price matched Target). Was pleased to see the 1.38gb update before i could play it! Worth it though.

By the way, if anyone wasn't aware, you can buy US PSN cards from Best Buy, without having to pay any more than the card amount. Just have to make sure you select the "downloadable content" version (they have physical cards too), and as their Support pages say, international customers can buy products to be shipped within the US if they use Best Buys Texas address as the billing address (I also used the phone number on that page, 281-742-5268). Being downloadable content though, you'll get an email with the PSN code. I've done it myself, so can confirm it works.

You'll need to use a US address for Amazon. I personally use a real hotel address in Oregon (you'll want to use a state with no extra taxes - Alaska is another I think?), and I also use my proper (and only) Amazon account.

Other than doing that, everything else is as normal - no VPN, fake name or anything like that. I've been buying from there using this method since just before last Christmas, and have not had a problem yet, not that I use it heaps - have bought around 10 games with it.

I also only ever buy Steam games from there (for no reason other than just wanting the games in Steam), so it works no worries with Steam.

I was originally told to use a real address, but have seen others since suggesting fake or real addresses. The way I see it, I want to reduce highlighting myself, so i keep everything as close to real as possible. Obviously my IP address would show them straight away, but I have no idea if on top of that, they look for made up addresses, or people with multiple accounts etc. That said, there's obviously risks the other way, if something does happen to your proper account.
