I was the brainchild of that slow chant (well i at least put the idea forward), and it was all inspired from the rousing Tottenham Hotspur "oh when the spurs" chant. It sounds amazing. Only way we are going to build it up is by keeping to push it until all the people get it..

It will work and will be great once it catches. needs more promotion tho (knock knock part was crap tho)
Can we just get rid of the recording and have the cheersquad lead it?

As a Spurs fan I thought it was a great initiative but the execution was poor.

It didn't need the knock knock. And it was always squeezed in too close to the opening bounce. And I think they tried to Australianise it too much with the singers.

If the afl want greater fan involvement that should start allowing safe standing in the cheer squads just like in football all around the world. Sitting and chanting/singing don't really go hand in hand. I feel they're are a lot of passionate people out there who would enjoy getting into the chants a bit more but don't bother because it's pretty half assed and you look like a minority when it should be the other way around!

I don't think there's a rule to say you can't. Hence the standing when waving flags. I'm just not convinced people want to do it all the time.

They're not Australian.

The Safe standing I've seen has little bench like seats that you can flip over if you want. Not that comfortable but if you get sick of standing (teams getting hammered) you can sit.

Quite seriously, hire a choir.

Find an amateur choir in the South East (or even a couple, if necessary). Give them free home game memberships, on one condition. They are to belt the song out at set intervals. You can put them all together, or spread them out throughout the crowd, flash mob style.

There's plenty of people who buy tickets at the back of level 1 because they prefer to stand and I've always noticed they seem to be much louder and involved with the game. (Not sure if this is because they're so close to the bars). I'm sure if there was standing behind the goals they'd love contribute to the atmosphere if they could

Really excited by the season starting and by the real prospect of being impressed and proud of our Cheer Squad once more.

Without wishing to hang crap on anyone, it is an area we have been lagging behind the other clubs in. In terms of numbers, chants, excitement etc. We can pretend that's not the case however you only have to go each week; watch our Cheer Squad and watch the Opposition's Cheer Squad, to realise something desperately needed to be done.

Let's hope the club and all those involved can do us proud in this very important area. I'm very confident they can :thumbsu:

The ones standing tend be more aggressive language wise which is not permitted in the CS area. I understand what you mean though, but some restrictions are influenced by the AFL, the stadium, the club or by people who prefer to do things a certain way. There's been a lot of feedback from people saying soccer style chants and songs would be great. I agree, however not enough people in the CS or in the stands in general want that.

Even from the JLT game against port even if it was a small crowd compared to our proper games I could sense an uplifting and vibrant feel already. Not sure if younger crowd but can't wait for Saturday they are doing well and will improve.

I have a cheaper way, organise the cheer squad to meet down the bottom of the steps 2 hours before kick off with 4 slabs and prime them.

I can only hope that PS was referring to a post script, my good man. ;)

He won't come back to the CS. He's been approached before.

Outsourcing the CS is interesting, but would probably lead to universal diresion in the league, then condemnation from members and supporters.

If the amount of people who condemn or criticise the CS joined, the bay would he overflowing. Almost 500 in 2009/2010 and now less than.200 with maybe 25-30% turning up regularly. What do people expect?

I don't sit there because I don't like the view from behind the goals
I prefer the side on view
Totally understandable, having sat in various places before joining the cheersquad, I can see the view makes it easy to sit on the wing level 2 or 3, and it is easier to watch the flow of the game. As long as you go to the footy and enjoy yourself.
