gysenn, please do your best to rid yourselves of the....player, player, player, oi, oi, oi chants.
they're embarrassing.
Read above.

Another point - the 'GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELOOOOOOOOOONGGG' chant is my absolute favourite, but the 'Been there for years, don't change a thing' people aren't a fan of it.
Try my best to get it going in the aisles after a win, though!
It's not quite a recruiting thing... From what I can see, it's pretty much full - of people who aren't going anywhere, but aren't prepared to get up and cheer, either.
As for 'bringing it up at the next meeting', the cheer squad isn't really run like that. There's a group of people who run and organize the cheer squad to make things go smoothly, organize banner making, run fundraisers, etc.
It's not really a 'open to suggestions' type organization - It's been run the same way by the same people for decades. These people haven't missed a game in decades, haven't changed the way things happen in decades, and aren't about to start taking ideas, suggestions and criticisms from a 19 year old who's only been a part of the cheer squad for the last 50 or so games.
As for the 'elderly, mature' look the cheer squad seems to have, that's spot on - I think the percentage of Geelong members, not just cheer squad members, are older than your average bear. They're the ones that have been there for years, and seem quite happy to just sit up the back and clap.
If young people willing to cheer are looking to join, they're welcome to! But I'm pretty sure the problem is bigger than that.

Massive shame because its amazing. If you can, push it because a cheer squad led "GGGEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLOOOOOOOOOOOGG" fills the stadium with noise!
The "Geelong clap clap clap" is like pin drops in comparison.
Also does Catman have a missus that dresses up like a cat also? And does he actually contribute in any real way other than doing that?

Imo you only do that cheer when you have the game won/ in the bag.
Does anyone else share this view?
Missus?![]()
Alright girlfriend then..
Is he the other way inclined? I just saw a female hanging off him the other week who has the full face paint to match is allI'm pretty sure he doesnt have one of those either Shane..

I saw him yesterday and he was with her! Posing for photo's together. Not sure if they are an item though, couldn't tell!
Im as big a supporter as any I guess but im not the type to get involved in the cheer squad.
As such, i dont think it's fair to criticise those that get out there week in and week out and do the business.
I will say in general listeneing to KROCK yesterday however you could hear the Freo goons as much as you could hear us.
That is a comment on the the crowd as much as the cheer squad however.
Go Catters
I'm pretty sure he doesnt have one of those either Shane..
Agreed but like I said, that "FFFFRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" chant just fills the stadium with noise, hence why I think we should employ the same (obviously Geelong and not Freo....) because as I see it the "Geelong clap clap clap" just doesn't generate enough noise.
Basically it is like a bass drum vs a tight snare.
Hey Gysenn (or anyone else in the know!)-which end are you guys at for this weekend? Want to check before I get some tickets-don't like being stuck right next to the opposition cheer squad.
You work at a school as an aid?I was! But then again I wasnt next to you guys, were in the same bay behind yas.
Sounds like a clean out needs to be conducted by the club.Another point - the 'GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELOOOOOOOOOONGGG' chant is my absolute favourite, but the 'Been there for years, don't change a thing' people aren't a fan of it.

The Pies did it.
Which is why collingwood cleaned theirs out. They're perfectly capable of running it, and do a brilliant job doing so - they just don't cheer enough and don't like change.
