Opinion Cheer Squad

It's not solely the cheer squad's responsibility to create atmosphere, but I have always felt our fan atmosphere is a bit weak. There's definitely complacency from all the success.

Everyone should get behind the team more, more Geelong chants and less "oi oi oi" crap.

This is the benchmark, bring back the Geelong chant!

All AFL cheer squads are the same really. Ours make plenty of noise and if we actually have another close game down there like we did against the Swans last year, the rest of our fans will be making plenty of noise too. We just haven't had many exciting games at SS recently.

Gotta love the commitment and passion some supporters go to, he must spend a bit on the interstate travels etc.

Always get goose bumps listening to that Geelong chant :D
The Collingwood fans and players finally realized they had been done by one of the all-time great teams and our fans helped the boys along the way :thumbsu:

(do wish Lloyd would shut up though!)

The best audio of that is on the 3AW call: "The temple of Australian sport is just bubbling with emotion!"

Whether the game is exciting or not......like has been said they need to engage the people around them with less rubbish "oi oi oi" chants I think the players deserve better than that

I find the cheersquad bland and prefer the not so safe for kids chanting that happens in the outer. My favourite is the Paul chapman, you can shag my wife chant.
I used to have seats in what was the old hickey stand and never thought much of the cheering, I remember the game that made me leave that stand, early 2000s, maybe 02? We were in a 9 game losing streak and had the pies at home, down by 20 points at 3/4 time and got up and won (actually may have been late 90s) and when the siren went the majority of ppl gave a little golf clap, stood up and left. I was going nuts.
That killed it for me, if you can't get emotional then I didn't want to sit there.
Now I'm in the standing room, love it! And save myself a few hundred dollars

I assume you mean this game, this is the last time Collingwood played at KP.

This is by far the loudest and happiest cheering I've ever heard at the footy.

It will be hard for any crowd to ever beat the atmosphere at the 2007 Prelim. 98,002 footy fans there and a stack of excitement for both clubs, with a cracking game to match. Hard to top that one.

me and my old man like to say we were THAT 2 :D
Agreed that game was NUTS!
Also newcs I think thats the game, to say I was VERY disappointed with the fans in the Hickey stand (now to be players stand) is a big understatement....

yeah, cheersquad is awful ... would love to have this for the tomahawk -
some sort of song taking the piss out of opposition villains etc
... just no atmosphere... as much as we whinge about the biased crowds at Pattersons and AAMI you have to admit it would be great to be a part of it

the truly amazing thing in that video is how they fill stadiums for the most boring sport in the world

Do we need our own anthem that would be played pre-game eg you'll never walk alone something the crowd can get into to raise the noise level and atmosphere
