Did anybody either play, or watch last years cheersquad matches. Not all clubs were involved. I watched a friend play for Essendon. Their was about 6 sides involved. Other sides included Adelaide and the bullyroos. The roos and bulldogs decided to merge during this series for some reason. I am not sure who won the Grand final during this round robin series, but I do know that the bombers were winless. We left after the Essendon games were finished. That is why I am not sure who won the Grand final. This event was a week after the AFL Grand final.

I played for Fitzroy Cheer Squad in one match in 1995 ... and in a 4 quarter combo of two half matches in 1996.

1995 - v North at Arden St. We got up by a very small margin, 4 points or something. I was at CHB on some bloke who was wearing #18. Was chuffed that I held him reasonably quiet.

1996 - North, Melbourne and Fitzroy played a 6 quarter match, each of us playing two two-quarter stints. North beat us by just a few points, and Melbourne gave us a pummelling.

Apparently, on rumour the Dees had been training with their actual team!

I was at full-back, with a mate (Whitney), both double-teaming their full-forward who was massacreing both of us. The bloke had an ankle that had only just mended from a break, too, and he only had one good foot! Yet he was still using us as a springboard.

I would have thought that the Essendon CS team might have been pretty capable, considering those blokes who got out onto the old oval across the railroad from the MCG at 11am before their G matches. I jumped in and played with them a couple of times, and some of them were GOOD!

I am a proud member of Collingwood's last premiership side. I played in a cheer squad lightning premiership at Victoria Park on the state-of-origin weekend in 1999. There were teams from Hawthorn, Essendon, Collingwood (of course) and maybe one or two others. Can't remember now.

Guess who won?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

PURE THUCKING DYNAMITE ... ROTFLMFAO ....

It was the proudest moment in my life, walking off Victoria Park singing good old Collingwood forever after playing a pivotal role in the Magpies premiership. Mind you, I should point out that there were a couple of Port Cheer Squad members in our team and they insisted on singing the Port Magpies song, "Cheer, cheer the black and the white" instead.

It was my excellent defensive work that won it for us. There was only one umpire. I was playing in the back pocket (where else?) and I made a point of picking out whichever opposition forward looked like he had any ability. I noticed one player wearing gloves so I figured that he was a half-serious footballer. So I just kept getting in his way all the time using whatever tactics (legal or otherwise) that I could think of to make sure he didn't get a touch. And he DIDN'T get a touch. What a champion I am.
