Seeing what happened with the test leading up to the explosion was a great way to finish it, it all comes together. Using the disaster as some kind of metaphor about the root of the failure/fall of the soviet socialist system of government was a very well constructed plot point. The writers did a great job on this script.

Not just the writing was great, so was the direction, editing and acting. Absolutely first rate.

One of the great mini-series of all time imho.

Even the scene in ep 5 where Legasov explains how reactor works and what went wrong was brilliantly written. Could have lost many people in lesser hands but was so well explained.

Just finished. Excellent.

“These are the most important 90 seconds of your life”. That’s one of several scenes that will stay with me.

Those poor guys in the night shift preparing for that stupid test...the stress, horror and torture they went through from those moments on, Jesus.

Smashed through this show and loved it. Really well put together that gave a documentary style insight of the events alongside tragic human stories. Very scary to think that it could have been much worse if not for the sacrifice of thousands of brave souls. It also gave a fascinating portrayal of life under the Soviets.

A lot of credit needs to go the location and set designers. There must have been a huge effort to recreate the exploded nuclear plant and surrounding areas.

What's the easiest way to watch this?

Just finished Ep 5. Absolutely riveting TV. Had never heard of Legasov prior to watching, so glad his story is being told to a wider audience.

The last scene of episode two (with the divers and the geiger counters getting steadily louder) might be the most anxiety-inducing five minutes of TV I've ever sat through.

I have one episode to go and cannot explain how excited i am thinking about watching it later!

As a regular visitor to china, to industrial areas, i though the way the show portrayed factories, and industrial regions of communist country was spot on. Lots of concrete, drab and monochrome.

the music, haunting. sounds of the geiger counter absolutely chilling.

i enjoyed seeing many of game of thrones actors in this show so far. No doubt their experience of living in medievil times wouldve helped a bit

That was a hard watch. The puppies got me good.
Yeah that might be the most difficult to watch episode of TV I've ever seen. Those dogs... ******* hell.
That scene of them doing the 90 second dash of death on the reactor roof was horrifying, but shooting those dogs and puppies just took things over the edge.

im not a pet person and didnt have a problem with the dog killings per se. also cause i told myself they didnt really die, they are dog actors
