Definately Stokes. Incredible how often he gets so far free, not just in the goalsquare but on the open-side wing too.

That said, he only does it when we're thumping teams.

And just to add, i honestly think Stokes is lazy and a bit of a frontrunner. Way down in 08 compared to 07. He has no reason to be either, considering how tough and strong he is.

Rubbish. Apart from Collingwood game he has been excellent and I would say even better than last year. Probably our leading goal kicker.

Fox in the Box is the soccer analogy.

Maybe not the most skilful player, but the player who always is in the right spot at the right time.

My soccer nominations are Pipo Inzaghi and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Aker for the Dogs seems to be making some good positions but is being ingored more than once (i.e. Johnson in the North game when he kicked into the post and should have handballed).

Brad Johnson

lloyd for sure does not play like a geniune full forward anymore all easy goals handballs over the top to lloyd but is still a beautiful kick of the footy

Who are the players who always seem to be alone in the goal square waiting for a handball?

My nomination: Matthew Stokes.
Historically, nobody holds a candle to Steven McCann. At least he had the good grace to always dribble it through and not kick it out of the ground.

Medhurst is the one that comes to mind instantly. But damn, he does some nice things. Certainly not a weakness.

Stephen Milne, and Scotty Welsh has done it a bit this year as well.

We would love to have a cherry picker at WC as this would mean we are least kicking some goals.

For mine its Lloyd, however simply letting your opponent attack the contest and running to the goal square would seem to be smart play for a full forward who's career is judged by goals kicked!

Talk about a dead set idiot.

Dude.....i know i support the saints.....but that's just the dumbest thing i've ever read.

You are a massive donut.
He only crashes the pack and then when the ball falls lose he doesnt protect his teammates he runs off to get the cheap kick seen it plenty of times mate

A few mentions for Franklin, I don't remember him getting too many handball receives unmarked in the goal square (although he kicks plenty after being first to recover from a marking contest), but frankly if you allow the bloke who is leading the Coleman to stand in the goal square alone you deserve to have goals kicked on you.

Dale Thomas loves to sag off his man and get the handball over the top, and Aker is the absolute king of it, he's always unmarked, 20m out straight in front when a teammate has it on the flank. That's not a criticism of either, as long as you run hard the other way and go when it's your turn it's smart play.

There's certainly a few blokes who are goal-side of every pack when you think it would be nice for them to be on the defensive side every now and then.
