Bears chairman George McCaskey confirmed GM Ryan Pace and coach Matt Nagy will be back next season.
Both will be returning without extensions. Pace is lame duck status with a deal that runs through 2021, while Nagy is signed through 2022 after agreeing to a five-year deal in 2018. McCaskey singled out quarterback play as an area the team "needs better production from to be successful." Chicago backing into the playoffs bought the Bears' current power structure another year to turn things around. Pace and Nagy will be on the spot again in 2021.

The McCaskey's are genuinely sh*t owners. Make bad signings then are too tight to pay out contracts when it becomes apparent they are a mistake.

Nagy and Pace ( in particular ) surviving the axe speaks volumes of how tight they are and how little winning means to them in the overall grand scheme of things.

To be fair....Nagy cops a lot of sh*t but he hasnt been THAT bad. His three years have been ok, its worse to constantly fire and hire HCs every two or three years. Give him time to develop. Definitely not a Gase or McDaniels, those guys get exposed in 1-3 years and ought to be fired.

Pace hasnt been great, but not abysmal. His contract will run out and theyll find a new promising FO guy.

Bears hired Sean Desai as defensive coordinator.
Desai, the first person of Indian descent to become a coordinator in the league, has actually been with Chicago longer than coach Matt Nagy, joining the franchise in 2013 as a quality control assistant. Desai was promoted to safeties coach in 2019 and was honed in on as an internal replacement for retired DC Chuck Pagano from the very beginning, additionally working as Vic Fangio’s right-hand man for four years. It's an interesting, close-knit, and deserving hire ahead of the 2021 season.

Bears head coach Matt Nagy said he will call offensive plays in 2021.
Nagy, an Andy Reid protege, called Chicago's offensive plays in 2018, when he won Coach of the Year on his way to a 12-4 season. He gave up play-calling duties to offensive coordinator Bill Lazor last November with the team in an offensive quagmire. The Bears were 29th in scoring and offensive yardage when Nagy relinquished play calling to Lazor. They finished the season 26th in yardage and 22nd in scoring. Nagy will look to rediscover the formula that made him one of the NFL's premiere up-and-coming head coaches three short years ago, this time with Andy Dalton under center.

Have faith pre-draft. Complain post-draft if they mess it up. But right now, there's hope good picks will be made that can fill the holes, also much can happen with cuts other teams make that the Bears can scoop up.

Pace and Nagys jobs are on the line, a far greater effort will be made by both to ensure they remain in good faith with ownership. Their own development in respective roles will be made.
