Credit to Port Adelaide, they are too good for a team like Gold Coast, and they will make worthy opponents when we curb stomp them later in the year.
However, if this China experiment is going to work, I think the AFL would rather that the Suns, a team that rolls around in Chinese colours and plays its home games in China, be competitive from time to time.
The Suns are rebuilding right now, while the Port are bridesmaid contenders. What results from this is that the Chinese get to see their home team, playing in their national colours, get disgraced by foreign AFLM interlopers. This can't be good for the future of AFLM in China.
Maybe they should play the Lions there instead. The Lions outfit resembles the Sri Lankan flag, so a double opportunity exists. Whereas no national team resembles Port Adelaide's strip, so not much can be done with that.
Please step aside, Port. For the greater good of the game.
