Its not really espionage when they openly buy politicians. They are just doing exactly what Australian companies and rich people have been doing for decades.

Influence buying in politics isn't the primary concern. Industrial espionage, theft of technology, theft of doctrine, military espionage etc.

As an example, three French ex-intelligence officers charged with treason last week for selling state secrets to the Chinese in the 90's/00's. The Chinese were after the operating methods of the foreign facing French intelligence organisation, DGSE, which has a very good reputation and is also notorious for industrial espionage.

China and India's policy of non aggression is very similar to the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact between the Nazis and the Soviets, perhaps with less idealogical hatred between the two. India can't keep up in an arms race and China doesn't need an enemy on its southern border if it turns it's attention to the pacific. It's a mutually beneficial agreement that isn't about promoting pacifism.

That's not the only area, the main conflict in recent years has been in the east in Arunchal Pradesh. While it hasn't been outright war like in 62, both armies have been involved in hostilities

There have been low level conflicts for decades all around the Chinese borders.
In the mid 90s met quite a few Viet fighter pilots re-training as airline pilots who had confirmed Chinese kills on the border. One particular guy had three kills in his Su-22, seemed very proud of the fact.

The proto-Vietnamese state repelled a huge Song dynasty invasion force that created the imagined border between China and Vietnam that exists today.

In light of Trump's behaviour at the G& we should seriously be considering whether throwing our lot in with him seemingly without question is the best thing for the country going forward. We don't even seem to be hedging our bets with China at the moment.
