The U.S. opioid crisis is of their own making from over prescription of legal pharmaceuticals. And to have congresspeople like John Cornyn, one of the most corrupt politicians to ever set foot in the U.S. Capitol, accuse another nation of wrongdoing is hilarious.

So what is your deal Aussie in Exile? Pretty much all you post here is any article about China you can find to act as if the nation is the worst evil to ever exist, and is on the brink of imminent collapse or WW3? You seem to have a pathological obsession with it.

I’m happy to engage in constructive and fact based discussion about China, whether good or bad, but your rantings and ravings are the stuff of a Truth Social post.

The untrustworthiness of China stems more from their in-country deals I think. I haven't kept up with it for years but there used to be a lot a cases of IP theft, using local officials, courts, and corruption used to screw foreign companies; not the big internationals ones obviously. Many Taiwanese flocked over early, and during the KMT promotion of it, but came back or moved to other SE Asian countries. My sister once asked me to contact a Chinese company to get more direct info in a dispute with an American company.
In my experience with Chinese culture, personal or business, many look at short term gains over long term ones. They will literally throw away potentially decades of good business for a single slightly bigger profit gained by treachery or sleaze. And I been told and have heard the phrase "you're too honest" a few times. Its culture historically has always been a 'contested game' to use a footy term.

Seen it here too many times. We are a nation concentrated on short term gains over long term prosperity and even more so than China

Although it has been changing over the past decade or two, China is such a huge, heavily populated place there is probably every known and unknown shithousery going on somewhere. Add into all the areas that are still quite primitive.

I fail to see your logic.

You constantly post articles highlighting how “evil” China is on the proviso it’s far more “evil” than anywhere else in the world, and the West should cut off relations and prepare for WW3 to stop them, but don’t seem to make the logic jump when presented with the reality that similar “evil” exists everywhere, even here.

There’s some parts of rural China that would have living standards lower than the comparable Western areas for sure.

On the other hand the developed parts of China, major cities and the infrastructure linking them, is far more developed than most of the West including Australia. Take the High Speed Rail for example.

China is a nation of Yin and Yang.

Oh yes, definitely. They had a late start and made it up in spades. They didn't have to live in the old hutongs, they just built out in the paddies or bulldozed the old stuff and built new on top. I was in Shanghai in 1985, and somewhere I have a photo from the bund across the river to Pudong. I took it because it was a look at ancient China, nothing but paddies and a couple farmhouses.
They do have amazing constructions across the country, as well they should at the size and wealth they are.
