Btw, you ok getting to my place? The closest freeway is either Tulla Freeway or the Ring Rd.

I accidentally knocked a glass of water over. My brothers laptop was sitting on the table but I didn't spill the water on it. The water spread on the table and about a table spoon of water or so went under the laptop and a really really small amount splashed onto the screen and keyboard.

I immediately wiped up as much of the water as I could and I accidently pressed a button which made my brothers laptop turn on. At this point my brother walked in, I told him, he got mad and picked up his laptop, unplugged it and took it into his room. A minute later he comes in and tells me in a not so calm way that it's frozen for the first time since he's got it and then a few minutes later it "won't turn on."

So he put it outside in a warm area and he kept trying to turn it on, despite me telling him not to because it could short circuit. Now it's working, but knowing my luck it'll stop working any minute now... Worst thing is, when it wouldn't turn on, my brother said I owe him a laptop. His laptop was about $2000 and there's no way I could afford to replace that.

That's my day so far and I've only been awake for an hour.

Edit: He just took it back outside, not very happy looking, it's not working again. ****ing hell. :(

The best thing to do with thing like this is

1. Remove battery and power plug
2. allow to dry
3. take it to the computer shop so thay can spray it (they have this water spary stuff)

1,2,3 its that easy.

Tell him to put a hair dryer on it for a few minutes and to not try turning it on for a few hours.
Can't because I don't have a hairdryer & I'd be too paranoid about stuffing the laptop up more.

I don't know how to remove the battery... but yeah, my brother's in Euroa playing cricket so it's sitting in his room drying.
Mum said if it's not working on Monday morning she'll take it to the computer shop.

Uhhh, I was wrong about how much my brothers laptop was.
It's $2999... The most I've ever saved up was $1000 for my laptop, there's no way I can save up 3x that.
I don't think the warranty covers liquid being spilt on it and the laptop was bought in Hong Kong.
My brother has photos from overseas on his computer and they're his only copy so the hard drive better be ok...

Dude, I am sorry to hear that.

God brothers can be w@nkers. It was an accident. Could have happened to anyone.

Reminds me of the time, I took my brothers (OLD) Sherrin football with me to a party. (It was a cross dressing party- i went as a Geelong Footballer). Anyway, my bro wasn't home so I just took it and yup, it got nicked at the party. I didnt tell him, LOL, he just thought his footy went missing. Finally after a year my mum told on me and he demands I buy him a NEW Sherrin like $100 worth.

I told him to **** off, that thing wasn't worth 10 cents. :)

I dont see how that story relates to yours....

Anyway, I hope ya get the computer working again. :thumbsu:

Great, my brother got home and his computer still isn't working.
He came into my room and pushed all my shoes off my shoe thingo and swore at me.
Then I could here him from his room yelling "WORK!" and various swear words.
He just went up to Mum and was like "my computer broken!" and Mum's like "I couldn't give a shit because of the way you're acting."
Now he's driven off, no idea where he's gone.
All over a ****ing computer. :(
I feel guilty and kind of worried for my safety to be honest, my brother and I are usually pretty close because we both love sport but he has such a bad temper.

Tell him to stress less, computers are geeky and the internet's boring in the off-season anyway.
And just because his overseas photos have been swamped by an FTW tsunami doesn't mean those places will likewise cease to exist.
That'll cheer him up. :thumbsu:

(Seriously, it sounds like something else is troubling him, kiddo. I doubt he's upset soley because his computer's not working. :( Have a chat with him about the lappy once he calms down and is ready to listen, you'll be fine. :))

My brother isn't very understanding and because he's not here I had a look at his computer, the problem is that the screen isn't working (he reckons the whole thing is broken) but I can't tell him that because he'll crack the shits at me for looking at his computer.
I can't say anything because he's already been throwing stuff and he smashed a photo frame, I'm scared he'll throw something at my head next.
Most of his photos were from the country that he was kicked out of and not allowed back into, so it's not like he can just go back there and take more photos.

Btw, this forum should be private, I know it's my choice to say all this on here but I don't exactly want my brother seeing it!
:(

I was/am the youngest in a big family of brothers and only 1 sister...so I can relate to feeling bit 'worried' if I stuffed something when I was young...and of course I did stuff things up all the time.

It's a shame if your brother makes you feel any more guilty than you already do...nothing worse than that. I'd write him a note...say sorry...and keep out of his way till you can get it to a shop.

I spilt wine over an expensive electronic piano keyboard..(luckily it was mine!)...and took me weeks to get it to someone to be fixed...but they still fixed it no problems at all.

Good luck...:thumbsu:

Yeah, he plays footy, but he's a midfielder/bench warmer. He's actually kind of tough, but that's cause he gets angry easily.
He lives at home because he works here in winter and goes overseas in summer (except this year) and he was kicked out of the USA for doing something stupid that he shouldn't have.
But yes, he is such a drama queen. :thumbsu:
