Yeah chuck use last.fm all the time. It is a great source for finding new music. Between that, pitchfork and music blogs I reckon I spend a couple of hours a day.

Hype Machine is good for new music

anyone with spare time should check out:
Dances With White Girls
DJ Sega
Brodinski

Dance wise, this is what i'm getting into at the moment
also anything off the Fools Gold label, having signed Bag Raiders, who are probably the best djs/producers australia has to offer at the moment. With Shooting Stars (instrumental is the key) plus Fun Punch which has been around for a while but still a good song. Run by A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs, will be the new Ed Banger with more of a hip hop vibe

Why would you want the intrumental version of shooting stars? Rhys' (from Ted & Francis) vocals are one of the most beautiful things I have heard and is what makes the song.

Leroy I find elbo.ws to be better than the hype machine personally.

I went to it. I think it was just one weekend in summer (maybe Feb?), not a long weekend or anything. It actually had a pretty good lineup of Aussie Bands at the time. From memory there was The Living End, Superjesus, Shihad, Area 7 (anyone remember them?).

For whatever reason nobody turned up, which was sort of good in a way cos you could just waltz up to the front row and watch the bands.

Think it was called "Rock the Park".

I had some mates go, i heard the second day some bands didnt play cos they were not going to get paid.

There are so many music festivals now in melbourne you would have to do something bloody good to get 10,000 people out to warragul to make money.

I only went on the Saturday, but I heard the same thing about bands not playing on the Sunday. I definately saw the Living End and Superjesus play on the Saturday night. Can't remember who else I saw though.

It can be pretty hard to get a festival up and going I reckon. The first year of Pyramid Rock was pretty small and probably could have folded, but to the organisers credit they came back and it got bigger and bigger.
