Just heard Choco on 5AA talking about delistings. Got the following impressions
Koula survived because he is still under contract, altho Mark did concede his last 5 or so games with West (Bs) were good and that if fit he could make the side.
We will go with a short list next year because of salary cap pressures. This impacted on Alan Murray and Bassett (altho he also pointed out Bassett had been at the club for 6 years and hadn't made an impact, so maybe he needed a different environment).
McKenzie missed out because he broke his arm in the last minor round game - that would mean substantial rehab time for a "skinny player" who probably needed maximum time in the gym to build up. Again a short list made carrying an injured player a luxury.
Barham was unlucky because he couldn't get a league game with Centrals despite kicking 70 goals for the year in the 2s. Apparently the whole Barham family was frustrated by this, and Port couldn't take a punt based only on reserves form. So he will nominate for the National Draft again.
He said Wanganeen wasn't eligible for the veterans list because he wasn't old enough
I thought the age limit for Port was 28 and Wangas is 30 next year. Anyone know for sure?
He was very pleased to have Brett Ebert on the list, and not just for "symbolic purposes" as Cornes tried to suggest.
That's it off the top of my head.
