I did comment on Francis.

There’s no evidence that Port knew of Francis’s alleged assaults while he was on their list.

This is not the case with OJ Bock.

It just shows that Port has a better culture than the Camry Crows.

Then why is P Burgoyne still on your list?

http://www.theage.com.au/news/rfnews/elliotts-claim-denied/2009/06/22/1245522784901.html

Crime Victims Support Association president Noel McNamara told The Age last night that any clubs who paid potential crime victims to make matters "go away" should be prosecuted for perverting the course of justice.

"It's absolutely disgraceful," he said. "Paying hush money for any criminal matter where a prosecution could take place is preventing the law from taking its course … and footballers and the clubs they play for are not above the law.

From http://www.abc.net.au/pm/content/2004/s1069962.htm

Port basically said your on your own and “get a good lawyer”.

GREG BOULTON: The club advised the Port Adelaide player to obtain a lawyer, which he did. The club attended meetings between the lawyer and player as an observer. The club did not pay or compensate in any way, any party in connection with the matter, nor did it provide or pay for the player's legal assistance.

Port’s culture remains in tack.

BRIAN CUNNINGHAM: It's important to realise at this point that the player… this issue was out in the public arena in the year 2000. He was investigated by the police, he was reviewed by the DPP, there were no criminal charges laid, therefore the player is innocent, therefore we don't name the player, and we did review it and we did take action against the player at the time. We took action on the basis that the player put himself in a position of risk.

BRIAN CUNNINGHAM: We fined the player and we counselled the player, and of course as we would normally do in the football club, take the player, and all of our players through extensive programs in terms of sexual harassment, racial vilification etc.

Cronulla Rugby League Football Club indefinitely suspended Australian representative Greg Bird as soon as he was charged with assaulting his girlfriend (just before the finals) and then delisted him at seasons end.

And what did the Camry Crows do? A token one week suspension and they tried to send a person charged with allegedly assaulting his girlfriend to a battered women’s shelter. WTF!!!! How dumb can one club be?

I worry for the declining culture down at Karparkistan.

Interesting he was fined by the club for "We took action on the basis that the player put himself in a position of risk."

And yet players go nightclubbing all the time. Some even take girls home.

What was the risk?

A few weeks ago it was reported on the Port BF board that Motlop and some other players were out and about on the eve of the Collingwood match. They werent playing but in Adelaide, Motlop with an injured ankle. He has now broken the other one.
Wouldnt clubbing put strain on your body whilst out with an injured ankle. That is a risk.

Maybe that he could get accused of something heinous. But I don’t know, as I wasn’t there.

This just shows how out of touch you are with what is going on in football, both Bocks suspension and visit to the womans shelter were done at the advice of the AFL and some womens group. It was what was recommended to the AFC at the time. Being so out of touch with AFL I would not expect you to have known that. Port are the only SA based team with a convicted criminal on their playing list.

nice try

PB was fined for breaking the 'club rules' in regard to associating with a certain person.

The rest of your post re Motlop etc is laughable. A few players, not playing that weekend, have a few drinks in a club (and no mention of them being actually drunk either) and a bit of a late night. whoop-de-do

Out of touch, hey?

From Crows fine and suspend Nathan Bock over assault on his girlfriend

Adelaide are hyper-conscious of the incident's clear breach of AFL policy on the appropriate treatment of women, and also of the damage caused by having a misbehaving senior player at a club where the playing list is the youngest it has been for some time.

In addition to being ruled ineligible to play until his peers are content that Bock has changed his attitude and behaviour - he will definitely miss this weekend's match against Fremantle and may be out for longer - the 2008 club champion has been fined $5000 and committed to 50 hours of community service at a women's shelter.

From Nathan Bock cannot do community service in women's shelters

NATHAN Bock, who is charged with assaulting his girlfriend, will not be allowed to work with abused women for his community service.

The Adelaide Crows on Monday announced the 50 hours of community service at a women's shelter as part of Bock's penance for the alleged assault.

But women's shelters were quick to condemn the idea as "inappropriate", prompting a quick clarification of the "misunderstanding" from the Crows.

No mention in any of the articles I found that the AFL instigated such a stupid idea as sending someone alleged to have assaulted their girlfriend to a women’s shelter.

From Suspended jail term for Adelaide Crows midfielder Scott Thompson

ADELAIDE Crows midfielder and Brownlow Medal hopeful Scott Thompson has received a suspended sentence for injuring a friend in a car crash.

Looks like Scotty’s a convicted criminal too.

Hey icry32, it’s reassuring to know that you are wrong on a daily basis. At least your stupidity has consistency.

I see you are still continuing with the immature nicknames for each Crows poster. Says a lot about your mental state, and maturity.

My info was based on what Steven Trigg said on 5AA after the punishment was handed out. I doubt it would be on the internet

Motlop was sober and out till 4am IIRC.........

Motlop was out with an injured ankle. Surely being out clubbing till that late, regardless of no alcohol being involved is not good for his rehabilitation. If he is fit enough to be out till the wee hours on the dance floor surely he can play footy?? A few weeks later he breaks the other ankle. Great injury management Port. If you think that scenario is ok you are wearing some thick Teal coloured glassed.

I doubt the other players would have apporeciated it.

Funny, I heard Triggy on 5AA say it was his idea and his alone.

If Rucci's mail is correct Chocowatch can officially end. Apparently Williams has the full support of 6 out of the 8 board members and has met all the criteria of their coaching review. Rucci is saying barring a massacre down at Cat Park, a loss will still see Choco reappointed for 2 more years.

That is really good news. I guess Power supporters can look forward to more of the following:

  • gold pass culture
  • a completely unbalanced squad
  • more recruiting of safe flanker options
  • no depth in key position forward ranks or ruck
  • off-field cronyism
  • the quest for the complete small-forward line
  • enhancing our reputation as the biggest downhill skiers in the AFL (see Rucci's article today)
  • more copying successful teams, but adapting to suit our own particular brand of zoning/playstation football
  • more recruiting guys from successful clubs to determine that what they do is not so different from what we do
  • losing staff for any number of reasons that aren't related to Williams (wonder if Haysman will stay on?)

lol - srsly - you're a wowser. Young men staying out a bit late not drinking, or not drinking much - yeah that's really shocking stuff.

Being out til 4am has nothing to do with him being kicked in the ankle during play 2 weeks later causing the injury.

You keep changing the story - first they're out drinking, then, hang on, actually Motlop wasn't drinking - now he's hit the dance floor... or is that another one of your fantasies? You're clutching at straws.

He must be as good as signed sealed and delivered. As everything Rooch writes about Port is 100% correct.

I have only been reading the local paper for about a year now but it is a very pro port power paper how do you crow supporters keep buying it?

Not very hard to work out where ruchi's heart is

of course a crowbot would say that because its part of the crowbot 'culture' to encourage the rape of recruits and 2nd rate players isnt it?:(

and let me guess it is Essendon culture to never discuss essendon nor post on the Essendon board and just post on bay 13 bagging Adelaide and sticking up for Port right ???
