In the end the goal umpire gifted you a premiership cup and saved some pride for your side.

We won by 12 points. If Hawkins goal was disallowed, we'd has still won by 7 points. If Rooke didn't kick that final goal we STILL would have won by a point.

If there were any 'gifts' it was Milburns free kick to goal right before half time.

They could match it with teams on their day, but in the end the injuries will catch up with you. You also need to consider the players who were playing injured. It's not just the outs, it's the walking wounded who were playing week after week and needed a break.

Geelong had some injuries this year at the right time of the year. Very similar to Hawthorn's run in 2008.

Nothing like Hawthorn's injuries in 2009.

In the end the goal umpire gifted you a premiership cup and saved some pride for your side.
There you go, losing all credibility with a statement that reeks of hurt. If blowing your trumpet about how lucky Geelong were helps you feel better about your side's complete failure in 2009, then go for it.

It's not as if we didn't have good players playing injured either. Chapman and Johnson, our two best forwards. Ablett, our best midfielder. Taylor, our best defender on GF day. Selwood was well below 100% having played his first full year. Ottens, our number 1 ruckman. Varcoe was lucky to make it back for the finals. Max Rooke, one of our best non-key marking forwards. James Kelly had only played 3 games going into the GF in his last 10 weeks.

All are key players. And yes, Hunt and Stokes were losses. Had both been fit, they would most certainly have strengthened our side. In fact, our top 4 or 5 players on GF day were all carrying injuries of some sort.

Good players can play injured. Good teams fight back. Hawthorn didn't have the will nor the desire. You've had your fun, now it's time for the real contenders to come out and play, for the true champions to prove what the word means.

Soft weak individuals use the injury excuss. Proud clubs rise above it.

Agree wambat and HP is the greatest example of a soft weak individual.

He has been completely embarrassed by this thread ( along with 90% of all of his trolling weak minded threads ) and still lives in denial thinking his team is any good.

Have to laugh really at flogs like Pudgey.

Lets just say Hodgespoodge is a complete failure of a troll and be done with it.

BTW, Geelong had the most 100 plus game players miss multiple games this year than any other club in the league, yet still managed to win the 3rd most physical Grand final since the 1934 Grand final which is widely known to be the physically hardest grand final between 2 teams with coaches who also played in physically demanding grand finals.
