On both of the TV current affairs programs tonight, Today/Tonight and A Current Affair, they were alerting us on the dangers surrounding chicken treated with growth hormones and other chemicals. It's an industry problem, the stories allege, and it seems that there is a lack of self-policing within the chicken-farming industry to solve the problem.

Granted, everyone loves chicken. Jennifer and I have it two or three times a week for dinner in whatever form-- roast chicken, chicken soup, chicken burgers, etcetera... Hearing something like this has really opened our eyes and informed us. But it is unlikely that we're going to change our eating habits.

So what happens now? Does this news concern each/any of you? And what can be done to solve the problem? Or are we getting our chicken feathers ruffled for no reason at all?

Cheers,
William

Sure will. Love eating chicken.:) :) I'm sure this has been going on for years and it hasn't hurt me, so I'll still eat the stuff.

The real danger is the amount of antibiotics fed to these animals so that they dont get diseases, ironically it is their overuse that is leading to the superbugs that cannot be killed by antibiotics.

It's bad enough with the over prescription of antibiotics to people let alone releasing them into the environment.

They should be... but seeing that you ate at Macca's, reading your signature line comes to mind. ;)

But in all seriousness, the reports were talking about the chickens you buy at the supermarkets, like at Coles or Safeway. The chicken "parts" sold at fast-food chains, even at Red Rooster, not too sure about that, whether they were included.

Cheers,
William

oh thats ok then i don't know why anyone in their right mind would eat red rooster anyway. I've learnt to avoid that filthpit after several food poisonings at various red rooster branches and know a lot of ppl who had similar trouble. Put simply...THEIR FOOD IS FRIKKEN RAW AND THEIR KITCHENS ARE PUTRID :p

Hmm, my mum made some chicken rice just yesterday with chicken bought from Woolies  . The chicken rice itself was rather nice, but i better not have some indestructible bug poisoning me from the inside, otherwise me in some trouble. Not only that, i too had some Maccas nuggets today while taking a break from studying for exams! Sh*t so as long as i last to see me beloved Roos win another premiership! :D

it's all good...chicken makes the b:eek::eek:bs grow :)

I didn't know that, beats shelling out tens of thousands of dollars for the silicone implants ;). Well you learn someting new everyday and i like this new fact i have learned. :D

That report doesnt really worry me, i mean, nowadays it seems that you cant eat anything without there being some problem with it.

Some examples:

Chickens - growth hormones
Fruit & Veg - Chemicals

Might as well just take the risk and eat anything and everything :)

Iceman's right - if you took notice of every warning on these shows you'll end up like Howard Hughes, coccooned away from the world for fear of germs.
